TLoU Remastered Hype: Indicative Of The Summer Drought?
Has anyone noticed that the hype surrounding The Last Of Us: Remastered is almost as high as the hype surrounding the original release?
Why is this?
Okay, undoubtedly, TLoU generates plenty of discussion. There are those who believe it's another masterful instant classic from developer Naughty Dog, while others insist it's wildly overrated. This conflict alone causes lots of incendiary headlines and general attention.
There's also quite a bit of backlash whenever an upgraded version of an old game comes out. Many gamers call it nothing but a simple (and shameless) cash grab by the publishers, while the more reasonable simply say, "you don't have to buy it again, ya know." And besides, there's nothing wrong with giving more people a chance to play a great title. That doesn't change the fact that "definitive" editions of existing games will always be controversial in some way.
Then again, maybe we see all this hype surrounding The Last Of Us: Remastered because there just isn't anything else to talk about. The summer is quite barren and really, we're spending the majority of our time talking about games that won't arrive at least until September; Destiny being first on the list. The point is that between now and then, there's very little to discuss, right? So, maybe that's why there are hard-hitting TLoU headlines every day...it's a slow time for news, that's all.
