Ubisoft: Unity Will Be A Great "Starting Point" For Newbies

Those unfamiliar with the series may ask: "I've never played an Assassin's Creed, so where should I start?"

Well, this year's Assassin's Creed: Unity might actually be the best starting point. In a video posted on Ubisoft's YouTube channel after E3, creative director Alex Amancio talks about the latest entry as being "a new start" and as such, a great opportunity to embrace new fans:

"It's a new start, it's a new narrative start. That is symbolized by a completely new context for the present day. You've seen a little bit of an evolution with [Assassin's Creed IV:] Black Flag. We're not going to do the same thing. What we're doing with Unity is really the beginning [of] this new cycle of Assassin's Creed games.

I would say that Assassin's Creed Unity is the best entry point for the franchise since [Assassin's Creed 1]."

For the record, you really don't have to have played previous installments to enjoy a new one. While the protagonist has historically been the same (Desmond in present-day), the individual stories aren't really connected; there's an underlying link that chains them all together, but it doesn't affect the basics of each plot.

Assassin's Creed: Unity launches on October 28 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I have yet to play any AC game as crazy as it may sound. My best friend has all of the AC games which I can borrow but I just don't have the desire to play them.

Plus it would take you like 210 hours by conservative estimates.

then move on and play a different franchise. there's more than enough games available to pass on franchises that don't grab your attention.

Ha. Ubisoft you funny bastados you. Trying to trick people into thinking there's some sort of plot that a consumer would need to worry about. here's the gist of the Assassins Creed story:

2012 was going to happen, it didn't happen, now goddess lady is pissed off and wants to rule the world again.

Bam. Go start wherever you want to in the series, you aren't missing much.

It's more like.

2012 was going to happen. The protagonist stopped it from happening. Minerva is angry and is seeking another way to get revenge.

I want more single player details. I feel like if the game is riding on a co-op take to define it's worth then that won't sit too well with many.
I believe Black Flag succeeded so well because it switched to being more of a pirate adventure. I almost want to say I want a direct sequel to Black Flag.

That's what I was sayin', its a gimmick to distract from the fact that it's yet another AC
