TLoU: Remastered Lets Naughty Dog Test Their PS4 Engine
The Last Of Us: Remastered is right around the corner, and it has been a headline whore for the majority of 2014.
But here's something you may not have heard: According to what Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer told Eurogamer, this upgraded version of TLoU gives the team a chance to test drive their new PlayStation 4 engine:
"A lot of it was because we could try something out on our PS4 engine. How far can we do it? Can we do a 1080p, 60fps game? We always wanted to do that, but for the types of effects we wanted to put on screen 720p30 was just fine. Now with the push to go even further that's not fine enough. So we're trying to rise to meet that kind of challenge too."
As you might expect, the developers are shooting for 1080p and 60 frames per second in the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Meyer added that such technical benchmarks will be a goal for "anything we're doing this generation." "That's sort of the mandate from when we were building the PS4 engine," he added. Well, sure. Why not?
Personally, I just can't wait for all this frame per second talk to die down. Gettin' a little tedious.
