New Assassin's Creed: Unity Vid Gives Critics What They Want

See? We told you that Ubisoft simply had to reveal a female character.

And so they have.

Okay, so she's not playable, but she's obviously an important female character in Assassin's Creed: Unity. Her name's Elise and she's on display in a brand new trailer for the upcoming blockbuster.

Here, protagonist Arno races toward an execution, where it appears his goal is to rescue the last victim in line: A woman, who will be prominently featured throughout the plot. She also wears the Templar cross and Arno teams up with her, as the two prepare to fight the French soldiers who surround them. The press release says Elise is "an independent young noblewoman determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French revolution."

It also seems she will establish an "unlikely" bond with Arno. Was Elise always part of the story? Or is this merely a reaction to everyone freaking out over Ubisoft not including a woman character in the game? You decide.

Woodkid and Assassin Creed trailers go together so well. Woodkid all on his own is a fantastic musician and that song was his farewell to his music for awhile. Sad song.

Also, there is always a love interest of some sort. Whether it be with a woman, with an obssession such as revenge, or a goal that the Protagonist desires. Sometimes all three. This isn't the least bit surprising to me, but since as of late, the Assassin Creeds games stories have fallen way off the mark, I know her relevance in the story will be little to not existent.

I could be wrong, and hope that I am. I only hope they can shake off that whole 2012 business, and forget about the dumb goddess thing and move the hell on. Its not cool, its not funny, its dumb. D U M B

WoodKid Bloodborne.

Woodkid spent a few months on my bus ride to school in my mp3 player.

They can't write in an additional character into the story this close to release, with all it implies of mission design, cut scenes and so forth.
She just *had* to already have been there.

And quite the cutie she was too. :)

Mind if I just destroy the gender equality moment with an anti-political comment that only skilled internet machine users could understand?

I'd hit it.

Anyone else notice that she's wearing a Templar cross necklace?

My guess is that he loves her despite her being a templar, and saves her anyways. She uses him, but in the end when it's too late, she regrets all she did saying she would have been happier to have been with him than chase her ideals, cue tragic death.

Haha - I agree with everything up until the death. I think it'll be a happy ending. :)

lol perhaps you're right. I do think they'll try to make a point that the assassin's way brings more value to the world (free thinking and all that) than a world controlled by templars where people cannot think for themselves, despite how prosperous or crime-free.
