Yet Another Delay: Evolve Slips To 2015
Another week, another delay.
One of this year's potentially defining titles, Evolve, won't make its originally scheduled October 21 release date. Publisher 2K Games has delayed the promising title until February 10, 2015.
During an investor call (as cited by GameSpot), 2K explained that they wanted to give developer Turtle Rock Studios (Left 4 Dead) more time to fine-tune and polish. Said 2K Games president Karl Slatoff:
"We are encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response from press and fans, and believe by extending development by a few months, it will allow the team enough time to fully realize their creative vision for Evolve."
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick added that they've typically benefited from giving creative teams more time to work on titles and they've "never regretted it." He added that February 10 gives Evolve a less crowded release window, as October is pretty darn full. That's true but given all these delays, there's now also Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt set for February, not to mention Battlefield: Hardline, which has a tentative "early 2015" date.
Still, at least the game doesn't have to battle Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
