Metro Redux Trailer Highlights Upgrades

If you haven't had the pleasure of these games, you've got to pick this up in a few weeks.

Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light are getting a significant upgrade, and you'll appreciate the work developer 4A Games has put into these titles when Metro Redux drops for next-gen consoles and PC on August 26.

In a new trailer, they show off the visual enhancements by comparing new vs. old: We check out the improvements made to the particle effects, AI and lighting; the Redux versions are much brighter and more detailed. The team even streamlined the experience by cutting down on the number of loading screens, as transitioning from area to area will now be a seamless experience. Lastly, each level has been overhauled to feature more geometry and better weather effects, along with graphical alterations depending on the time of day.

Really, this is well worth seeing:

I wouldn't miss this game for any other. So excited to play these two hidden gems of the previous generation. Like The Last of Us, the amount of immersion you get from it is just incredible. You just start to look around at the now ruined Moscow and become absorbed in that "what-if scenario."

Wasn't impressed by the constant talk about graphics, but the new AI is definitely something I wanted from the ps3 version of Last Light. I need to hurry up and finish this damn backlog of pa3 games.

I wish they would've showed what the visual difference is between the old PC version and the Redux version. Perhaps there isn't much of a difference as they said something like "console users can now experience the game as PC gamers had on a higher end system"

They look pretty close 2033 probably actually looks better than the Vanilla PC version you have to remember these games had some big graphical mods most players would apply.

I think the AI changes and weather etc. is far more impressive than the enhanced graphics.

These two games show exactly what remasters SHOULD be.

really starting to get sick of these last gen HD remakes!
i mean yea its great more people get a chance to play these games especially since they didnt get half the attention they deserve!
but come on id MUCH rather a new metro game than re releasing crap the fans have already played!
those who want to play it already have, those who havent wont be interested in it now so stop wasting your time and make something for your fans!

I am VERY interested I have a gaming laptop but it's not something I would want to play a game like Metro on and the PS3 versions were awful compared to PC.

Also the studio behind Metro is a VERY small Ukranian studio that only makes the Metro games. Did you ever think the amount of money they can make off of these could greatly help them make a new one? This isn't some cash grab from like EA or Activision simply looking at all the engine enhancements shows how much passion they have for their games.

2033 Redux is actually closer to a Remake than a Remaster they are also giving us BOTH for only $50. So there is literally nothing to complain about here. Out of all the remasters we are getting this is one I find 0 reason to complain about and shows us what we SHOULD expect from remasters not that crappy minor tweaks we have been seeing.

thats exactly the problem.
being such a small studio and in the financial trouble there in now, redux is only going to make it worse!
this is going to make metro 2033 and metro last lights sales look like freaking CODMW!
massive waste of time and money, and i wouldnt be surprised to see the studio shut down because of this stupid sh*t!

really getting sick of HD remakes of last gen games too, i mean NO ONE spent 550+ bucks on a next gen console so they could play a game they could play on a what, 200 dollar console now!
people bought next gen consoles to play experiences they could not play on last gen consoles, not so they could play games that were on last gen consoles but with a shinier coat of paint!

Except you couldn't really play the true Metro experience on the PS3 it was a completely dumbed down and muddy mess.

Even though this was on PS3 this will probably be the first Next-Gen game and will likely hold the title of best graphics on PS4 until Uncharted or the Division launch.

You obviously know nothing about Metro do you? To call this a shinier coat of paint compared to the last gen versions is utterly stupid. Those last gen versions were stripped down ugly versions of the original games. Metro: Last Light is considered one of the top 5 best looking and graphically intensive PC games and now it finally gets the treatment it deserves on a home console and now 2033 is getting a complete overhaul in an entirely different graphics engine with tons of new features and you call it a "shinier coat of paint"?

I have already talked to quite a few people who are gonna grab this. Two great games for only $50 is a really hard deal to pass up. These two games really flew under the radar for most console gamers and with so few games on the PS4 and X1 they really have a chance. Just sucks they couldn't release it earlier now it's got to compete with Destiny which launches two weeks later.

I for one am another person that Shaunee can add to his list of people that are going to grab this game.

If done well, remasters can be a great reason to experience the game again or for the first time. The Last of Us Remastered is another remaster that I'm enjoying immensely. I passed up the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition since I recently played Tomb Raider on the PS3, but you didn't hear me crying about it's existence. Other people picked it up and enjoyed it - which is fantastic.

If you don't like it Mr. Blank, then it's obviously not for you. If you're sick of the remakes then just ignore them, but don't presume to think that the world centers around you and what you want.

oh well, dont come crying to me when 4A is closed down and metro is no more.
this is the exact reason why we have such few unique different experiences.
publishers refuse to risk investment, and every blue moon when they do invest, they milk every last penny out of it refusing to invest more into it thus driving it into the ground and turning other publishers off from doing so.
