Gamescom 2014: Wild Revealed, Another Ambitious PS4 Exclusive

Maybe the reason we never got Beyond Good & Evil 2 is because creator Michel Ancel was too busy with a new IP.

And we're okay with that. During Sony's Gamescom 2014 press conference today, BG&E and Rayman guru Ancel stepped to the stage and unveiled a brand new exclusive PlayStation 4 title called Wild.

It's in development at start-up developer Wild Sheep Studios, a French team of which Ancel is the leader. This new effort will boast a fresh open world that is about the size of Europe. Set 10,000 years in the past ("10,000 B.C." anyone?), the game will feature realistic weather and seasons, and players can assume the role of a human or in fact, any living creature. If you wish to be a wolf, a bear, an eagle, or whatever, the choice is yours.

The trailer is extremely ambitious and the world is especially pretty. We're still not sure what the goal of the game really is but for now, we'll just ogle and drool.

Looks compelling. I'm interested.

see. it's possible to make open world games that don't have something to do with criminals and or drugs...

That looks really weird. It looks as though it could just be an online sandbox game. I really like the look of it, though.

Now THIS is what I am talking about - THIS is what we want!

Something new, something different, something innovative, something that makes us go "what the **** IS this? I just know I want it!" and not just a refined version of something we've played before.

This is what I've been hoping for from Sony for a long time.

Game looks amazing but I am worried it might fizzle out if there aren't some form of objectives.
We will see but I am quite excited.

Well, it has finally happened: I'm jaded. I see something that looks cool, and my instinctual response is: that's probably going to suck.
