Gamescom 2014: "P.T." Teaser Was The New Silent Hill

During Sony's Gamescom 2014 press conference, they showed off a teaser trailer for a game known as "P.T."

All we knew at the time was that it was a new horror title for the PlayStation 4, and it was in development at 7780s Studio. There's even a demo available on the PlayStation Store, and Sony says you shouldn't try it "if you have a heart condition."

However, there's a lot more to the story: As discovered by Twitch streamer SoapyWarPig (via NeoGAF), this is actually a trailer for the next Silent Hill entry. The credits even include Metal Gear Solid guru Hideo Kojima and noted filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The latter's proposed game trilogy, inSane, doesn't appear to have taken off, so maybe this is his new game project.

If you're wondering, "P.T." stands for "playable teaser." Check it out if you haven't already:

I'm just not into these kind of games but it would seem PS horror fans are quite pleased.

What kind of games? You don't like the original Resident Evil/Silent Hill games?

If Kojima and del Toro wasn't enough looks like Norman Reedus gonna act the protagonist, as a fan of Walking Dead that it's another big plus for me

Thanks man. playing it right now on PS4. It's nearly unplayable, not because it's bad but because it's scaring the utter crap out of me just taking a few steps down a corridor. Looks incredible too. Cheers!

I think the best way to approach this is to not expect anything like the 1st 3 Silent Hill games, but just hop for a might fine horror experience. I have attempted Homecoming and Downpour but they were just poorly made games. I shall have hawk eyes on this and hope that Hideo and Guillermo can finally make something worthy to the Silent Hill(s) name.

On a side note: Since when did GamesCom become such a big gaming event? I remember watching last years Sony presentation and it was just an hour of indie nonsense. I'm pleased with this years event... but confused...

That playable trailer is freaking annoying. I like the suspense and art direction A LOT, but the redundancy... I should have watched someone else put up with the staring contest. Lol, it frustrated the crap out of me.

Interesting. I might come back to play Silent Hill games. I lost interest after finishing SH4.
I will play the interactive thing on the weekend!
