Kojima And Del Toro's "Silent Hills" Sounds Completely Crazy

It didn't take long for gamers to figure out that the mysterious "P.T. trailer" shown off during Gamescom was really a trailer for the new Silent Hill.

What's especially intriguing about this game is that both Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and "Pan's Labyrinth" film director Guillermo del Toro are involved in the project. Kojima outlined his plans for the game during a special livestream event (as cited by GameSpot), and they're encouraging.

He first said he wants to make new effort - that he calls "Silent Hills" - so it'll "make you pee your pants." But after collaborating with del Toro, he decided he wanted to make it even scarier. Forget peeing your pants; now you're going to "sh** your pants." And of course, that's much worse. However, Kojima added that there's a danger with making a game that is too freaky, because people tend to close their eyes. That can't happen when playing a game, obviously.

The fresh Silent Hill will use the vaunted FOX Engine, so it should look pretty amazing. If you're interested, there's a free demo on the PlayStation Store...just have that extra pair of pants handy.

Had the guy talking about pissing and shitting in pants been a teenager, then fine.

But now... I don't know.

Scarier the better I say!

Let's look back at the Dead Space series. First one was brilliant in it's scary atmosphere (it frightened me and I'm a grown up, whatever that means), but then people complained that it scared them. It was all downhill from there, Dead Space 2 was ok but I never once felt any tension, and I never even finished the demo for DS3.

Silent Hill is a horror game, fill it to the brim with scary shit and I'll be all over it, water it down even a little and I'm sure to ignore it.

Yeah there's always that group of vaginas that have to complain about too much of something good in an amazing game;to scary, to gory, to much blood, my child can't play this etc... These people shouldn't have consoles.

Yea i never understood that... If you're playing a game survival/horror genre, why would you complain about it being too scary??... its like going in to a horror movie and complaining about it being to scary, makes no sense to me

This is awesome, maybe not pant-fillingly scary but definitely unnerving. Just can't figure out the final puzzle and refuse to cheat :-( Really hoping to finally get a good silent hill game to rival number 2 (the peak of the series in my opinion). If you own a ps4 you gotta give this teaser a try.

Or you know, you could just make a survival horror game as scary as possible.

Pre order bonus idea!
Something to keep your eyes wide open through out the game for those who will most likely close their eyes. This will solve that issue. Now they can pee their pants, shit their pants, and cry their tear!

The demo is INTENSE had some friends over and it was really good the atmosphere was perfect we were all pretty freaked out... Then again we were kinda drunk haha. Really good stuff though. I urge anyone who likes horror games to check out the demo (P.T).

I wake up all the time from small children and that asshat paper delivery boy at 5am and his music. I don't know if I can handle losing even more energy from an amazingly frightening game!

Its great, mind-fing fun. Its physiological horror and the atmosphere is brilliantly crafted.

Don't try it if easily scared or unable to play games without handholding.

hope the games nothing like the demo!
one thing i HATE about this sudden uprising of "horror" games, there not really horror games at all just thrillers.
like the demo, if you play it right there is not ONE jump scare, just lots of scary suspenseful sounds and thats it.
if you play it right you dont even get the scary woman jump out and grab you forcing you to restart.
i played it last night and had maybe 2 jump scares, but then a friend of mine played it and because he solved the puzzle i missed he never got the scary lady, never got the ghost, never got the monster, the scariest thing that happened to him was as you walk past the front door the glass explodes.
freaking HATE it how games do that, build nail biting suspense through the really creepy music, doors banging, but theres no big jump scare to relieve it.
its like pulling a bandaid so f*cking slowly, but it never ever comes of its just pulling, pulling, pulling, and more f*cking pulling.
JUST F*CKING GET ON WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you build suspense and tension to then scare people, not to put them on the edge of the cliff than say see ya later im going to the pub for a beer!
at least have the decency to push them off first!

i dunno, i just dont feel that koji has the right understanding of horror games to make this work properly.
hopefully he does, lord knows we NEED silent hill back!
but i dunno, just playing the demo, and just even his previous games, asking him to create a horror game is like asking ferrari to create the replacement to the PLP50!
complete total opposite of what the company has experience in, and what their values stand for!
he may have a passion for horror games, but does he have a sound fundamental understanding of what makes a horror game work?
im not so sure he does.
