AC Unity Microtransactions Won't Result In Compromises

Uh-oh, the dreaded microtransaction.

But don't leap atop your soapboxes just yet. While the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity will feature microtransactions, senior producer Vincent Pontbriand says it will not impact the gameplay in a significant way.

During a new OXM interview, Pontbriand clarified the purpose of the "fast track" microtransaction system in Unity. Players can spend real-world money to purchase various unlocks ahead of time, but that doesn't really change much. He added:

"If we think it fits the gameplay, or the brand itself, the core values, we're willing to take those risks. If not, then not. We're not going to make any compromises."

The microtransaction has come under heavy fire as of late, but it remains one of the most profitable business systems out there. If people keep buying them, then what's with all the complaints? Obviously, they're pretty darn popular, right? Just so long as they don't screw up a potentially fabulous game like Assassin's Creed: Unity...

But it will result in gamers not viewing it as positively.

I see Microtransactions as added content. Any game should be playable from start to finish without them. You just pay for an advantage. Like how having a Fire Flower was an advantage to beating Bowser in Super Mario Bros. But you could still beat him without one. it was just easier and more fun with it. So, in today's world, the Fire Flower would be a Microtransaction. Added value, but not necessary. If you have to buy it to win, then it's wrong.

theres a reason they have come under fire cos they have been runinig games and i mean ruining when i say it just making the game a pain in the ass to deal with which is not how it should be and another point on just leave these things out of games that u pay full retail for DLC is a different story but almost as bad to me personally. the whole we need more or ur money so the game can be complete for u and then we or i reply stuffa you.

happy gaming
