Lords Of The Fallen: An Action/RPG With A Stiff Challenge

For those seeking an in-depth challenge Lords of the Fallen has got them covered.

CI Games' Thomasz Gop spoke to SCEE Online Content Producer Rhys Sutheran about the upcoming fantasy/RPG, and the details can be found over at the PlayStation Blog.

This happened during last week's Gamescom event, and Sutheran learned a great deal about what Lords of the Fallen will offer. In the first place, there are apparently two separate worlds and it'll be important for the player to make decisions:

"It’s an important point in the game. Learning more about both realms guides the player towards making a massive decision that affects how the story plays out – so getting the perspective from both worlds helps guide the game and the character in a certain way."

You can shift between these worlds whenever you want, which ought to prove interesting from an exploration standpoint. There are all sorts of hidden areas and secret paths, and it's possible that certain enemies are holding keys to such areas. However, be careful before you confront everything in your path; much like From Software's Demon Souls and Dark Souls, this adventure won't be easy.

"There’s a steep learning curve for new players, but we don’t want anyone to feel that they’re being punished constantly. If you learn how the enemies attack and adapt to that, you should be OK eventually. And we’ve added save points before each boss fight, so if you die really quickly you’re not sent all the way back to the start of the level."

You'll have to carefully study fighting patterns, and it'll also be important to remember that your environment can play a role in any confrontation. Lords of the Fallen is starting to sound like catnip for the hardcore gamers, while perhaps it seems less enticing for the more casual crowd.

Sounds good to me,and the 2 realms did remind me of soulreaver.

Not to easy, but also not as punishing as dark souls;you can save often, for me balans in a game is very important.

And again a true next gen game, not a cross gen game.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of that. I used to like it when you actually got punished for dying or losing.

Even when you die countless times over and over again?

I get pretty disconnected from a game when I keep having to redo the same stuff over and over again.

Watched the new gameplay trailer and don't like how slow the game is. Nor do I like the art style. I'll definitely watch a playthrough on youtube or something to see if it changes my mind though.

This game is sort of shaping up to be interesting to me. It's sort of interesting and comes out of nowhere, not well known or AAA or anything.

I miss the PS2 days, where I used to just buy a game based on what it said on the back of the box, and whether it looked good based on that alone.

Now everything is about internet research, previews, trailers, reviews etc etc

I am sick of knowing exactly how a game is going to be before I even play it. I want to be surprised again!!! It's like how movies put all the best/important parts of the movie in the trailer.

Hmmm. This sounds like forum thread material.
