No Trading Items And Equipment For Destiny Players
Essentially, Destiny is an MMO. So, does that mean you can trade items and equipment with other players?
It's not an uncommon practice and it's potentially lucrative for publisher Activision. However, while it may not be impossible in the future, don't expect such a feature right out of the gate. As developer Bungie answered simply on their website:
"Nope. We want you to earn 'em. You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal.
Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them. But weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."
Back in April, the developer told IGN that a player-to-player system of sorts - akin to the now-defunct Auction House for Diablo III - might be a possibility "if the community calls for it." The designer is also concerned about "the security situation for both our systems and all platforms.
Don't be surprised if a real-money item system shows up at some point. If the game really does have a ten-year lifespan and they really don't implement a subscription plan, you can bet Activision will be looking for another way to monetize the experience.
