Persona 5 Now Coming To PS4, Will Release Next Year

It's one of the most respected and acclaimed JRPG franchises in history, and now it's headed to the PlayStation 4.

Atlus has announced that Persona 5 is in development for the PS4 and PS3, and it's currently scheduled to ship next year.

If you've been following the news, you know the game was originally slated as a PS3-only title, and it was supposed to arrive in 2014. But now, the designers are cranking on a separate iteration for Sony's new console, so perhaps that's the reason we have to wait until 2015. We're sure fans of the genre are willing to be patient, because Persona is really just that good. You gotta be into the Japanese style, though.

Here's a teaser trailer:

Well that's interesting. Atlus usually doesn't risk the cost of developing a Persona for a new console (Persona 4 released for the PS2, even the PS3 was already out), maybe the sales success of the PS4 convinced them?

Anyways, It looks awesome, can't wait to play it!

Sales success means bigger install base and when you add that to how easy it is to put a game on PS4 I think they figured they had to do it. Plus they are under new management so they might have had something to do with it.

New management? Last I heard was that Sega bought Index, but that they weren't touching Atlus (being the only successful part of Index since the bankrupt) Were there any changes beyond that?

No, they were left to develop on their own just as it should be (no crazy orders to make it an action game) but I don't think it's impossible that something came down from above that said to go ahead and put it on PS4 since they would be allocated the funds to do it.

It's going to be a PS3 port with updated graphics.

Still, I'm ridiculously excited for this game!
