JRPG Lovers Get Dragon Quest Heroes, Disgaea 5, Ys Sequel

Okay, so there's no guarantee that all three will come to North America or Europe, but at least we know the games will exist.

During Sony's pre-TGS press conference, they announced a trio of new JRPGs, along with a new Persona 5 update.

First on the list is Dragon Quest Heroes, currently in the works at Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force. It's coming to the PlayStation 4 and it'll be the first time a Dragon Quest title of any kind graced a Sony platform since 2005's fantastic Dragon Quest VIII. The only downside to this news? This is an "action-oriented spin-off" akin to Nintendo's Hyrule Warriors. Yeah, that might damage the news just a tad if you're an old-school fan.

Next up is Disgaea 5, which was probably inevitable. Nippon Ichi Software announced it for the PS4 with a 2015 launch window in Japan; you can check out the official website if you're so inclined. Of the three games listed here, this is the most likely candidate to get a Western release. US gamers have seen all the Disgaeas over the years, even if they've had to wait a bit longer.

Last but certainly not least is Nihon Falcom's new Ys RPG for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. This is also slated to release some time next year, although we don't know much about it. This is one of the most acclaimed JRPG franchises in history, even if it hasn't received a tremendous amount of love outside Japan. We can't wait to learn more about this one.

If you want to check out the entire Sony conference, you can do so at UStream.

Watch the video of DQ Heroes. This game looks freaking sweet. I love action rpgs. Just love em. The graphics on this game look absolutely amazing. It will fill countless hours of life for me until I get a true turned based DQ RPG.

Disgaea 5!!!!!

The fourth one was beyond awesome. Story, and especially the voice acting, really brought that game to life. Please bring it to the un-appreciative Na's.

Japan: We're not buying your new console, It doesn't have any games we're interested in.

Sony: Well, Here's some Persona, Dragon Quest, Disgaea, Ys, Gundam and Silent Hill, how about that?

Japan: (faints).

To appeal the western audience. Which of course is blah blah we dont think you will buy our game unless its action oriented. Which is total BS.

Well actually KingRed, this was at TGS and there was no mention of a Western release at all.

Many of the games we seen at the conference won't ever get ported to the West, so wait until we even get confirmation before jumping to conclusions.

Yeah, actually there is an article now about how the series creator has been wanting to make an action DQ game for several years now, and Techmo Koei came to him with the idea and they both loved it.

So nothing to do with the West.

Artwork is nice, but it didn't look that good, tbh.

DQ looked cool, I just hope it is less like Dynasty Warriors and more like the other great action RPG's.

I don't really like all these spin-offs that Omega Force are doing. They should make these Dynasty Warriors style games better. Better graphics, bigger battles, better abilities, more indepth character progression and customization.

And let there be hope!!!

Looks like this game is confirmed to be an Action/RPG and NOT a Dynasty Warriors game. So not like Gundam or Hyrule Warriors.
