Sony On PS4 Unveiling: "We Focused On Key Genres For Gamers"
One of the main reasons the PlayStation Meeting went over so well is because it featured an obvious emphasis on games.
While the new additions tend to focus on multiplayer and social media, Sony firmly believes in catering to the "core gamers" out there because as PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara put it, those types of passionate gamers "will be first in."
During a recent NowGamer interview, Gara spoke about the necessity of appealing first to the hardcore:
"We focused more on, I guess, core genres. Key genres for gamers because the really passionate gamers will be first in. Let’s make no bones about it. So what kind of genres do they look for? Hardcore shooters are incredibly important. Having driving games are incredibly important. Having great third-party support is incredibly important. We lined up all of that.
It did lead to a little bit of a core, male bias with a little bit of a counterbalance but I look forward to seeing that flesh out more because we’re certainly not saying PS4 is a man’s machine and that’s the end of it."
Gara finished by saying that the PS4 will be a "very broad machine in terms of appeal" and they will continue to "broaden that story." Of course, it remains obvious that the majority of core gamers are male, although we're definitely starting to see more female die-hard fans these days.

Then today I bought psplus which included an extra 3 free months! On top of getting the best deal in gaming plus $10 in psn credit plus an extra 3 months free; I'll also get another free $10 next month for spending $50 (on psplus) this month! I can't wait to invest in the ps4!
I am not into digital but with sony it had been hard to stay away!

Persona 4 Golden, it was going very good, until I messed up by not using my time wisely. I didn't defeat enough enemies to be high enough level to defeat a negative Persona. The thing is, I put 10 hours to the title. I can't just restart over. It's just not something I'd do, on a JRPG at least.
Looking at articles and gamers talking about JRPGs tickled my senses in to trying a JRPG. Youtube videos and such, all look like a blast to play. One way or another, I will end up quitting for a reason. It's too much for me to handle.
I can't just get in to any JRPG, it has to have the right balance of nutritious foods for me to even bite it, if that makes sense? Persona 4 Golden had that.
I will keep trying though, maybe whatever Final Fantasy is next to be released might be good enough for me to purchase and enjoy. Im starting to get into console MMOs, JRPGs, and RPGs. Defiance, Persona and or Skyrim. Whatever Diablo III is, that looks like something I'd want to get in to.
As for why I'm sharing this with you, I have no idea.

I'd be more interested in seeing titles that were not so predictable, that offered a few more surprises.

Then they showed/announced Killzone Shadowfall and all of that went completely out of the window. Sony knew what they were doing.
