The Evil Within Details Include Randomized Traps, First Boss
Forget Destiny insanity for a moment, and let's focus on something completely different.
The Evil Within, coming from the mind of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his Tango Gameworks team, could be a horror masterpiece.
And the latest Game Informer issue has revealed a bunch of compelling new information, such as the first type of enemy you'll see, the first boss, and how the game opens up after a certain amount of time. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the first enemy is a zombie-like human wearing a jacket, and very reminiscent of the first Resident Evil.
Things are definitely going to pick up from there, though. The first boss you'll face is The Sadist; he wields a chainsaw and chases you around a village. It's probably a bad idea to go toe-to-toe with him, so you'll have to lose him, sneak up on him, and maybe place a few traps. This occurs in Chapter 3, and it's about the time the player will have the ability to make more decisions. It's also where you'll take more advantage of traps, which will be randomized, by the way.
I always thought the RE games needed more traps. If you're dealing with mindless freaks, then the biggest advantage you've got is your mind, yes? Anyway, The Evil Within will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 14 in North America, and a couple days later in Europe.
