FFXV Demo Offers 3-4 Hours, Driving, "At Least One Dungeon"

Last week, we learned that Square Enix would produce a playable Final Fantasy XV demo in March.

Now, we've got a few more details, and they're encouraging for fans of the franchise. For example, as reported by Siliconera, the demo will take you 3-4 hours to complete.

You'll also be able to drive around the Duscae region, and there will be at least one dungeon to explore. Presumably, driving will cut down on the amount of play time; if you wish to be a bit more meticulous in your exploring, you can just walk. If you don't wish to explore at all, you can finish the demo in just one hour, although that's not exactly terrible. The only downside is that we won't encounter any boss fights.

Square Enix did say they'll include something that will excite fans of the long-running series. Oh yeah? You mean, an actual role-playing combat mechanic? I'd love to see that.

I can't make out what you're feeling in this article Ben, now that FF15 is uh, more "tangible" in its existence than ever before.

Is it a slight sense of bitterness, portrayed through mockery?

Or am I smoking something I'm not supposed to lol

Maybe the exciting part is a visit from Lightning :)

I can't wait to play said demo, I'd only drive a bit. Rather walk and test out this battle system on a few baddies.

Yeah, fast travel is for the weak. I've had some of the most fun in these type of games by simply wandering around. After waiting so long for this game I can see the 3hrs turning into an entire weekend.

With you LV.

I'll be replaying the demo infinitely just like how I did as a kid.

I don't see driving as a fast travel option, but as part of the experience. I mean many Final Fantasy's prior to this had vehicles. I personal love the road-trip vibe of this adventure. An no, I dont want so see Lightning in this game. It is a numeral title and no numeral title is connected with another (I know of the VII's & X's connection hinted at in X-2 but no!)

IGN reported that it's at 55% completion so that isn't exactly a positive thing. 8 years to reach 55%?!?!

I read that the 55% happened in pretty much two years of work. So we shouldn't expect a 5-6 years before it sees release.

Yeah I also read something similar.

Basically around 2 years ago they made the decision to move the game to PS4/XB1 and rename it FFXV. So from there they had to rewrite everything for the new consoles and learn the new systems.

2 years of getting back to where they were basically. But even still, it was in development for 6 years prior to that. 55% is still incredibly low for 8 years.

And another post somewhere has claimed that "the graphics are at 70%". What does that even mean? I'd be taking those sort of claims with an entire mine of salt. Especially when taking into consideration the 90/90 rule.

is the demo only available with the purchase of Type-0? has anyone played Type-0? I'm clamouring for an old school FF experience but I'm not huge on 10. I would really love a FFXII remake
