Rocksteady Aiming For "The Ultimate Batman Simulator"

Rocksteady is back behind the Batman wheel and they have super high aspirations.

Marketing Manager Guy Perkins told IGN that the team's goal was to create the "ultimate Batman simulator:"

"If people walk away thinking this is the ultimate Batman simulator, then our job is complete. We gave them Gotham City, we gave them Batman at the height of his powers, and we gave them the Batmobile. I think those three elements come together to make a great game. If people go away feeling like it was awesome, we've done a good job."

And yes, Arkham Knight is supposed to be five times bigger than Arkham City. Don't forget that last year's Origins was created by a different studio (Warner Bros. Montreal). As for the game's release date, it's now slated to arrive in June 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, after being delayed. It was originally supposed to launch this holiday season but clearly, Rocksteady needs more time.

Next year is gonna be hot!
I think it's safe to say I'll be getting as likely D1P titles.

Order 1886
Mass Effect
Uncharted 4
Tekken 7
GT7 (a stretch I know for this one)

(all HD remakes have been omitted)

This is one of my most-anticipated games, and while I think this will be the best Batman game yet, and will get us closer to the *feel* of Batman and Gotham City than we've ever been, the Ultimate Batman Simulator needs much more:

Bruce Wayne: I know it's just more than they can fit in this game, but I would RELISH the opportunity to go back to the Bat Cave, change back into street clothes and then run around both Wayne Manor and Gotham as Everyday Billionaire Bruce Wayne. Imagine conversation trees in the spirit of Mass Effect, where you could talk to detectives, reporters (Romance Vicki Vale!), people on the street. Imagine a full Bat Cave loaded with training simulations, and a massive detective/evidence center you can explore and solve crimes in, with a level of detail that would make LA Noire jealous. Batman is awesome, but Bruce Wayne is an essential half of the equation we never really get to experience!

Also, the Bat Wing. Where is the Bat Wing??? Dear Lord I have wanted to fly the Bat Wing since the 1989 Batman film. Imagine unlocking the Bat Wing toward the end of the game, and now you can fly freely around Gotham City, leap from it mid-air, GTA-style, onto the top of the Bell Tower in the center of town?

Make no mistake, I am STOKED for Arkham Knight. But we're not quite near the Ultimate Batman Simulator :-)

seeing the great reviews for Shadow of Mordor, using both Batman and Assassin's creed gameplay (and the Batman games, using parkour and stealth aren't so far from AC), they better have awesome ideas to make the free flow combat even better (possibly allow a "bloody" mode?)
