Sony On The Last Guardian: "Please Look Forward To It"

If you've crossed the game off your "most anticipated" list, Sony wants you to think again.

Yes, The Last Guardian was originally announced back in 2009 and since then, we haven't seen much. And yet another year of trade shows has slipped away without a peep from the promising new exclusive. We don't even know if it made the transition from PS3 to PS4, although most assume it did.

That being said, Sony isn't completely mute on the subject. They're still frustratingly vague but in the latest Weekly Famitsu issue (as translated by Kotaku), PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said-

"We continue to work diligently on the game, so please look forward to it."

He added that "development couldn't be better," although he quickly followed this up with the admission that such a statement is a "bit of an exaggeration." At this point, I think we just need to see the damn thing.

Yoshida was also asked what he thought about the PS4's most high-profile games being multiplatform (at least for now). His response:

"I think it's fine to start from there. If the number of PS4 users increases from there and they tell their friends, 'the games look prettier on the PS4,' or 'the loading time's faster,' or 'using the Share function is fun' then the sales for PS4 versions of games will increase and game creators may think 'let's focus on developing for the PS4 from here.'"

Okay, we're down with that. Just give us those exclusives in 2015!

Sorry Sony I lost interest already. 5 years and still waiting are too long. If I am in junior high school then, I would be in college now. Even If they release gameplay now it'll be another year andvhalf of wait. You cant expect ppl to wait

Starting to feel like the longest joke/tease/con play in the world... Oh the snickering that must be happening behind closed doors.

I also agree with those stating that this game would only be a disappointment after so long.

Stay Classy PSX...

They clearly re-started development for PS4. If this is anything better than a C-plus game I'll be shocked. It will be interesting when/if this game ever comes out because publisher and developer alike are going to have to answer some questions about what the hell went wrong.

Yeah. It'll be the Salem witch trials all over again if this isn't on par with the previous games.

They need to stop all this secrecy. It's not healthy for anyone.

At this point it doesn't matter if we're looking forward to it or not, if the game actually is ever released it will have been so long that it will never be as good as the wait and the hype and the expectations that will be put on it.

Get it done when it's done - I'd much rather a classic I can play again and enjoy in ten years time than a rush job. It's not as if we don't have other things to play while we wait :).

One problem with ps3 in 2008 is that they dont have enough games. So any game they have up their sleeves, they announce right away. Same for FF13vs, and Agent.

Considering the studio's last two games, I will always be looking forward to The Last Guardian... I just hope it's not too much further away.

Like what Lawless SXE said.

Shadow of the Colossus changed my gaming life. I just can't ever hate on this game. I never care about the time taken because I keep forgetting about the game the next day, but Ben brings it right back for everyone :D

development couldn't be better? a bit of an exaggeration? You must be joking right?? Both the Overstatement and the Understatement of the century, in the same article.

Just shut the hell up until you have a release date and some actual gameplay to show, how about that?

sorry shu, but i simply cant look forward to something that has been in development for at least NINE years, and we have not seen ANYTHING from it bar a CGI teaser trailer released what 5 years ago?
how the ^%$# am I suppose to look forward to that?
how the ^%$# is that suppose to instill confidence in people!?
its simple, TLG can only end in 2 ways.
one, $ony FINALLY comes out in 4 years time and admits sorry it was canned years ago we were just stringing you on. most likely.
or it does FINALLY release, but only 13 years in development, setting a new record, thus taking the record from DNF, and that wont be the only record of DNFs it will be taking...............
