Evolution Talks Driveclub Issues, Considers Player Compensation

The newly released Driveclub continues to experience server issues, despite developer Evolution Studios having "confidence" that it wouldn't happen.

Director Paul Rustchynsky has been actively Tweeting about the ongoing struggle, which is great because interested racing fans are always in the loop.

For instance, Rustchynsky responded to questions about the games status, saying they "did performance testing prior to launch" and that's where their confidence came from. But bugs unfortunately persist:

"We've got no limits to the amount of servers of the quality of hardware; it's purely down to the server code having some bugs."

He added that he hasn't ruled out offering some form of compensation for early adopters of the game, though he didn't add any details. This could include free DLC or something like that but for now, I think everyone just wants Driveclub to work properly. Let's focus on that first, yes?

Altho I'm not one of them I would expect anyone that has bought a retail or digital copy of the game get compensated.

It's only been a week, and single-player still works (well, in fact, I'm loving it :)). I don't think we need compensation yet. If it takes a month, that'd be another story, but wanting compensation after a week for a game that's still fun in single-player is gamer entitlement syndrome kicking in.

This makes 2 games that came out on the PS4 that would not work correctly at first. Battlefield 4 being the first notorious one.

Yeah, first thing's first - get that server functionality working. I guess this is why developers like Bungie and Respawn do open betas to check server communication and loads.

Shame this happened. Maybe they should have delayed it to give themselves time to test it properly and make sure it was 100%..sure I guess it can be expected for a launch title...oh wait...

Makes me wonder how this can happen.

How does stuff like this make it through QC testing?

Small bugs I can understand, but a huge problem like this?

Sad to say, but, stuff like this really do happen. All the time, in fact. Mostly in small mobile apps. I work in the gam dev industry developing mobile games, and it was really surprising at first to realise that, as a consumer, what you wouldn't really expect to happen for 'release' software actually do happen. Add to that the fact that even small games go through a lot of regression testing, q.a. test cases, etc...

Still, some annoying little bugger can slip through and wreak havoc to release builds. So unfortunate that it also happens (albeit, rarely) on huge console titles like BF4, and Driveclub.

a YEAR delayed and the net code STILL has bugs?
maybe $ony should stop hiring the slave shops in Indian kindergarten classes, and start hiring some people who actually know what their doing!
this, perfect example why xbox live has, and always will, be better!
