Driveclub Devs: The "Majority" Of Players Can Now Connect

If you want to try out Driveclub today, you should be able to enjoy the full experience.

After diligently working to get everyone back online, developer Evolution Studios has announced on Facebook that the "majority" of players are now able to connect.

When the game launched a couple weeks back, it encountered server problems, which ultimately resulted in the suspension of online features. Since that time, Evolution has been pretty active in keeping the community up to date on their progress, and we've seen several patches. They're "still improving server performance" but at least now, Driveclub should function relatively normally for most gamers.

"We will continue to keep you informed as we make progress and we know we've said this before but we mean it: We know how frustrating it is when you can't get connected and we feel it too. We are working flat out to get online sign-in, multiplayer racing and leaderboards running smoothly for everyone, all of the time."

Now all we need is the free PlayStation Plus version, so more interested players can check it out.

I am a Gran Turismo player at heart, so I have avoided this game due to how picky I am.

Any GT players out there want to offer their personal feedback?

avoid this game. i tried having a non biased opinion but honestly, no racing game has been able to get close to gt. the only other racing game ill play outside of gt is nfs. anything else is just a tease.

I'm in the same boat. Not to mention I was annoyed with the delay.

I think GT7 will be the best yet...just for the simple reason that the PS4 is easier to dev for and they always seem to push the boundaries with each GT entry.(bar 5...that was pure muck in my opinion...love the rest).

Best arcade physics imo. I'm able to apply my GT skills in the game for setting time trial records and a bit of drifting. Most often, arcade physics just mean floor n power slide through turns. In DC you'll have to be precise on driving lines, and throttle input on some of the more powerful cars to keep a smooth turn.

There's no deep meaning to the actual game in terms of diversity, customization, and passion for each car as GT symbolizes. However, DC is in a league of its own. It focuses on competition and it does it well, in the rare times I'm able to connect online. Because of my competitive nature, I think the game is great for what it is. At least try out ps plus version when it releases. Don't avoid it altogether. Again, if you're competitive, it'll hook you in some way.

Anyone who comments on whether to avoid or play should have played the game first, otherwise their recommendation is based on little more than nothing.

I own the game, and here's my take. Its a fun game. It's not a sim and it doesn't try to be, but it's not an arcadey racer either. The driving feels good and every car feels different, but the brakes are a little TOO good, if you catch my drift. The driving is fun, which is important, and the graphics are impressive. The track environments offer a very organic feel whereas most sims feel very sterile in the environments. The tracks themselves are pretty solid.

If you are going to wait until GT7, then by all means do so, but it's a long ways off. Driveclub is a fun racer that will either tide you over, or make you want a pure sim even more. And they would be different enough to enjoy both for their own merits, I think.

Project Cars is coming out in March though, fyi. Much sooner than GT7 and could be just the sim many people are waiting for. We'll see.

Funny thing with Gran Turismo...
I was a diehard fan of the series and had a BLAST playing the multiplayer races in Prologue.
Thinking they only needed slight tweaks to the multiplayer experience for GT5, I was super excited.

Then came GT5... I played the multiplayer and was blown away... by how lame and boring it was.
This enormous letdown really soured GT for me. I didn't even look at GT6 when it came out.
Unless someone tells me different, if they keep multiplayer the way it was in GT5, I'm out.
Hopefully DriveClub has a great multiplayer system.

If you liked GT5P multiplayer, now is the time to pick up GT6. Matchmaking, along with multiplayer events similar to GT5P have arrived in GT6.

Well at least you didn't talk bad about GT6 without actually playing it like most people. GT6 multiplayer has certainly gotten better with the constantly updated quick match. GT6 is absolutely amazing but it gets lost and overlooked simply because of the current generation imo. If we're talking more about DriveClub than GT, then you know the PS3 generation is quickly becoming a thing of the past. If GT6 was a ps4 game hen it's a different story.

Not really. It seems worst for me. Two weeks and still horrible connection. I can't believe I dropped 60 bucks on this game. The game is ok, but it's absolutley useless without proper connection. Smh

Why aren't you a plus member? It would have been $50.
