Looks Like Advanced Warfare Is The Call Of Duty We Wanted
Last year's Ghosts was a disappointment. Most will agree.
As a consequence, this year's franchise entry had a lot riding on it: Could it restore some of that epic greatness we first encountered with the original Modern Warfare?
Well, going by the critic response thus far, it seems the answer is a resounding "yes." The Metacritic average sits at 83 for the PlayStation 4 version, although it's interesting to note that the user average is only a 5.7. There are plenty of CoD haters in the world, though, so it's probably not even worth mentioning. Most of the user reviews with super low scores are basically unreadable, which tells us something.
At any rate, with five 9+ scores already (including the 9.1 from IGN) and 14 8+ scores counted, the game is off to a great start. Most reviewers are saying this is exactly what they've always wanted from Call of Duty: Pulse-pounding FPS action and fantastic multiplayer. There was never any reason to completely change the genre or do anything drastic; they just had to infuse freshness into the ailing series, that's all. And it appears as if new developer Sledgehammer Games has succeeded.
Our review is coming very soon but in the meantime, are you happy with what you've been reading around the 'Net?
