Share Play Disabled For Advanced Warfare, Sony Explains
If you've been playing the recently released Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, you may have noticed a message at the start of each play session.
It tells you that game recording has been disabled. What this means is that the game doesn't support the newly released Share Play feature for PlayStation 4, delivered last week via firmware update 2.00.
Yes, Sony did say the option would work for all games. However, in a clarification to GameSpot, Sony said all games can support Share Play, but it's up to the developer to utilize it:
"Share Play is a system level feature enabled by System Software Update 2.0 making it available for all PS4 titles, however the option is available to developers to disable the feature according to what they feel will best benefit the consumer experience."
Share Play lets two PS4 owners play the same copy of a game online. The owner is the host and can stream footage to a guest console; they can do this for one hour. There's no limit to the number of times you can do it, either. But obviously, a developer has to want to allow this...
