Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed Toys Target Future Series Fans
Okay, so the main franchise isn't geared toward children.
But that doesn't mean the spirit of Assassin's Creed can't be tailored to younger gamers.
Ubisoft produces all sorts of items related to the series, including a board game and a Mega Bloks set. During the GameON Finance conference in Toronto, Ubisoft international brand manager Yannick Spagna explained why such products exist.
As cited by GamesIndustry.biz, Spagna said these items aren't about generating revenue but more about introducing kids to the popular video game IP:
"On a big IP, like Assassin's Creed or that type of game, I think now the idea is to reach a maximum of people, so it's not about needing advertisement to get additional revenue. For big IPs, smart brands are the best partners. They do a line with Mega Bloks together. On their side, it's nice because toys are looking for the hype around video games. And we are looking for a new audience: kids, children, it's more like that."
Spagna compared the idea to the very well-received LEGO-based games, so it's feasible that an Assassin's Creed entry for youngsters is in the future.
