Today's Assassin's Creed Unity Patch Delivers 300+ Fixes

Current Assassin's Creed Unity owners will be happy to hear this.

The latest patch for the troubled open-world game will launch this week and according to Ubisoft, it will deliver over 300 fixes.

This is called simply "Patch 3" and it'll be ready to go later today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; it'll release later in the week for PC. The massive update addresses a wide variety of technical issues, including crashes, animation bugs, networking problems, and other stability hang-ups. And yes, the patch should also improve the frame rate, which can really chug at times. In fact, Ubisoft has yet another patch in the works that will make the frame rate even better.

It's too bad the game launched the way it did but some people are having plenty of fun with it, including yours truly.

They really needed to delay the game. I don't think I've ever heard of a patch that fixes 300 problems. That's insane. The game would've rated a lot better if they had. You'd think after Ubisoft made the gutsy delay for Watch Dogs they'd have repeated themselves for AC Unity. I suppose Ubisoft can't stand the idea of an AC game not shipping annually. Wait. In this case, they couldn't tolerate the idea of less than TWO AC games shipping.

Why did anyone buy this game Day1? I agree that a patch that fixes 300+ problems is insane but so are the people that blindly bought the product.

I'm waiting to play it until the performance patch lands. I'm not a fan of < 20 fps gameplay

I'm usually not a fan of <60 fps but I make an exception for my console gaming ;)

I'm okay with 30fps with most console games. I feel the trade-off of higher detailed, more complex, graphics is worth the loss of fluidity. I do prefer my faster action games at 60 though. I'm hoping Naughty Dog made the right call with making Uncharted 4 60fps. Heck. I'm hoping ND doesn't fumble their next game. It seems to me it's uncommon when devs maintain their premium status from one generation to the next, so on and so forth.

I really only need 60fps for FPS and when I feel like giving my eyes an orgasm. I've been waiting for the Rare effect to present itself with ND.

I bought it day 1 and don't regret it at all. These issues have been exaggerated, usually by people who haven't played the game.

I bought the game D1 and absolutely loved it. I finished the story the other night. I will go back and get the Platinum after I enjoy DA:I and Far Cry 4.

The only FPS problem I had was with the huge window in that church and after the game loaded a new level it would chop for 2 seconds and then be fine the rest of the level. I never had the missing textures or skeleton people. The only time I got stuck in the map was going after the cockade collectible at the top of Notre Dam. I was fast descending, which was a badly needed new feature and got stuck behind one of the spires. Other than those little problems and the missing Human Shield defense the game was my favorite of the series. Anor is an amazing Assassin, way, WAY better than Connor. The cut scenes are an industry best as of the AC Unity release. DA:I cut scenes look last gen in comparison. Can't wait to see more current gen only games. I really think there is a difference when last gen is added to the development cycle.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Xbox One being less powerful. Ubisoft makes glitchy, buggy games released before they're finalized all the time, because they're a terrible publisher.

Little big planet got hit hard for being buggy at launch. This game hour special treatment for the most part, as well as advance warfare multiplayer bugs.

In contrast to what most are saying, plenty of games can have big patches. Dark Souls 2, for example, can use quite a few. I can't believe that From didn't address the horrendous hitbox or the camera bugs. Almost every GTA I've played required to reboot (until a reset mod was added) due to getting stuck in a spot rendering you unable to move. Ditto with RDR. Gran Turismo had several bugs with physics that weren't addressed. I can go on and on...

Again, I'm excited that all this effort has been pushed into fixing the game.

Well, at least everyone who bought this game plus the season pass gets to get Far Cry 4 for free for their troubles.
