Rumor: Batman: Arkham Origins In The Works For PS4, Xbox 720

So what's the deal? Where's our next Batman game?

According to Pixel Enemy citing French source Gameblog.fr, it seems Rocksteady is actually working on a new Batman: Arkham installment and it'll be unveiled at this year's E3.

Supposedly, it's called "Batman: Arkham Origins" and the setting will be the 1950s or 60s. It seems other members of the Justice League will be featured as well, and the biggest part of this rumor is that the new effort is coming to next-generation platforms. That's right, if this is true, "Arkham Origins" is on the way to the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's new console. The first two Batman games from Rocksteady have garnered widespread critical acclaim and although many gamers have hoped for a new superhero title from the talented team, it's hard to let go of a guaranteed winner.

Do you want another Batman or would you rather see a fresh superhero? Superman, perhaps...?

Prefer a fresh hero but a 50's setting makes me very excited and I may have to give the franchise another chance. I am most at home in earlier time periods like that.

I want the grey and blue Batman featured on this one if it's true, with much more details, of course.

Imagine if that Batman were voiced by Adam West

Any Batman game made by Rocksteady is a big winner on my eyes. I just don't know if they could translate that to other superhero games... I'd hope so.

I'd rather just keep it Batman, and keep it on PS3. However, Rocksteady has certainly proven themselves. Arkham City and Asylum are two great games.

Do I want another super hero? Fuck no! Rocksteady has proven that they understand Batman and can make games in that universe shine. Why venture off into unknown waters when there's still plenty of ways to refine and improve on what they already have.

That being said I'm very interested (and a little concerned) about an origin story game. While I would absolutely love something heavily influenced by Year One, I can't see a game selling well if Batman is fighting the mob instead of the Joker, Two-Face, etc. Alternatively, they could make it the origins of a villain, like The Man Who Laughs or the Long Halloween. Or maybe they could make heavy usage of flashbacks like the Animayed Series did from time time.

I have a lot of faith in Rocksteady and I'm very glad that theyre continuing the series and I'm very eager to see how this new game develops.

I find it to be a somewhat peculiar move. For close to 30 years, DC has been actively distancing Batman from the "Pow! Sock! Boom!" incarnation that arose from the 50's/60's era, making him the Dark Knight that most modern audiences know. This is the first reversal of that trend that I can recall.

I'm curious to see what will come out. Rocksteady has a good track record, at least...

They could jump start the whole girl power concept that has been going on and break statistics on female leads with a Wonder Woman game.

Wonder Woman game, lol.

No thanks, I'd rather have a game for a superhero that deserves a proper and good game, like a Superman game or a Wolverine game. Even Green Lantern is up there.

Sorry, but we have had plenty of superman and wolverine games. Most of them bad cheap license cash in. Wonder Woman is one of the big top 3 DC super heroes and deserves recognition.

as the priest said to the blind kid, oh F*CK YES!
i really hope this is a next gen exclusive though.
theres so many games traversing the gap, so it makes you wonder are they really taking full advantage of next gen?
id be nice to have a few exclusive MP games to compare to the likes of watch dogs and co.

makes me wonder where there going to fit this in though.
especially how they ended arkham city.........
no i wont ever get over that, it was so freaking stupid!
need to fix the AI too.
need to make it allot more of a cat and mouse game like what arkham asylum was.
and far more emphasis on the correct use of gadgets and a wider variety of them.

Think it was pretty clear that it will take place in the 50s. So there really isn't a need to tie it with AC
