Hardline Delay A Result Of Devs Taking Feedback To Heart

Battlefield: Hardline is just one of many games that got delayed last year.

And in the case of this particular anticipated shooter, those in charge say the delay was definitely "the right call."

Visceral Games Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis said as much in an open letter to the Battlefield community. The new effort is now set for March 5 after initially being confirmed for Fall 2014, but Papoutsis promises that gamers will benefit:

"Earlier last year, we had assumed that by now the game would have launched and we’d be spending our days and nights online playing with all of you. But we got some pretty pointed feedback after our early beta that you wanted more. And we listened."

This extra time will let the developer make plenty of improvements, which will result in "the complete first-person shooter experience we set out to deliver." He also confirmed a second beta, which will launch before the game officially arrives on all major platforms:

"There will be another MP beta for all platforms that will showcase a small slice of the game and will also help us continue to test stability as we prepare for launch. Hopefully you’ll see in March that we’ve not only been listening, but we’ve been busy acting on what we’re hearing."

Well, just get it right. Let's not have another launch disaster like Battlefield 4.

I'm hoping all these delays are the start of a positive new trend where developers are choosing to delay the game instead of rushing an unfinished product. Judging by comments I've read on this site and others it seems like most people would rather wait a little longer and have developers fix any lingering bugs and put an extra layer of polish on the game. And let's be honest if the devs had said March 5th from the beginning there would be no controversy at all.

So if this game and all of the others that have been delayed deliver on their promises of being a more complete and polished product we should applaud them and encourage other devs who feel like they may need a few extra months to do the same.

Agree!

I'd personally rather wait and find something else to play or replay one of my favorite titles, then get greatly hyped just to be massively disappointed, that's assuming of course I were getting something day 1 or very soon after launch, be it a game or a console/system/hardware in general.

Oh, and I don't think I've posted since Christmas; hope everyone had a Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and here's to a Happy New Year! Cheers everyone here at PSX Extreme! =D

Those devs dont give a damn about us. They only delayed the game because they were afraid of Destiny destroying them. This dev and a few others have let out some seriously buggy games, sometimes, even unplayable and Sony has let this happen.

Thank god for Nintendo.

i dam well hopes for their stake cos EA's credibility is on the line cos they can't afford to stuff anymore games up or they are going to start to suffer. with confidence in their ability to produce stuff that actually works

happy gaming
