PSXE Poll Update: Fans Hesitate To Embrace PS Now

PlayStation Now could be a great new feature for the brand.

But at least for the time being, it appears that the majority of PlayStation followers aren't immediately ready to embrace it.

As per the results of our latest poll, most people say they're either "not impressed at all" or they're "undecided," which means Sony has a lot to prove with this new streaming service. The concept is sound: Offer hundreds of titles spanning multiple generations for a certain fee. Of course, they're only starting off with PS3 games but they do intend to include titles from other PlayStation eras at some point. Here's hoping the feature takes off.

This week, where does Final Fantasy XV rank on your priority meter for 2015? Is it one of your most anticipated games of the year? Or do you have no faith that Square Enix will actually produce a great RPG? Let us know.

I'm very excited for Final Fantasy XV, I have seen nothing but good things since Tabata took the helm of the project. However, I can't see it being released in 2015. So while this is a main reason I got a PS4 (Much like I did the PS3 too...), other games are taking priority for now - mainly Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Maybe it's not the service. Maybe it's the price? 45 for 3 months equals 180 for a year. 240 if you go the 20 a month. And some people will choose that and end up going all 12 months. Throw in 50 for Plus, and 400 for the system, and that's 630 to 690. Sure, you get access to a lot of games, but let's face it, most people won't play more than 25% at best. Sure, the prices look good at first blush, but think long term (which most people never do). perhaps if Now was part of Plus, figure $25 extra, people would bite?

Course, it could be the whole concept itself. People freaked out that XBOX One required an always on connection. So too will PS Now. Which is exactly what gamers don't like. So, imagine another outage like Sony's first hack, where PSN was off for a while. No access to the service and the games at all. Add in the price, and it's quite a loss. Sure, Sony would probably credit you another month's worth for such a problem, but the damage for Now would be great. Throw in Sony's multiple hacks, and you don't feel secure using it, because you've seen how long Sony can be down for (We're lucky it was only 5 days with the Lizard attack). And as we've seen several times over, a lot of users all at once hinders the system. What happens if Now is experiencing rush hour? I have a great connection, but one of my few times on Beta had me disconnect (Granted, it could have been a beta only problem). But it does happen. None of this would make people want to join.

This could be a case where technology isn't up to date enough for the idea. Or it's just the price point. If not both. But maybe people just aren't excited about a service where so far, they can only play the PS3 games they've pretty much played already or didn't want to. I think Sony needs to focus group players if this community's voting proves the norm for service use. See what's holding people back.

I don't mind the idea of streaming games. In fact, it would be great if Sony incorporated a demo library to it of ps4 games. No hdd space to waste for a sampling. It's just that the price and purpose seem to be a problem for me.

"From Squaresoft - the company that doesn't know the meaning of 'final'... " Haha, oh honest trailers! I've totally lost interest in XV. Not my cup of tea.

I'm starting classes again on 01/20 so if playing games I purchase is hard enough, it would be in the best interest of my checking account not to pay for a services that I won'e be taking advantage of. That's the main reason why I have not paid for PlayStation plus (plus I prefer to play my games offline nowadays).

As far as FFXV goes... the world seems somewhat interesting but what is a world without interesting characters?
