Okay, These Madden Super Bowl Sims Are Getting Creepy
Hey, did anyone compare reality versus the annual Madden Super Bowl simulation?
Last week, EA ran the simulation of Super Bowl XLIX and the results were pretty dramatic:
With almost no time left, Tom Brady hooks up with Julian Edelman, who scores as time expires to give the New England Patriots a 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Okay...in reality, Tom Brady hooked up with Julian Edelman with just over two minutes remaining in the game, which led the Pats to a - wait for it - 28-24 win. Okay, sure, there was a crazy juggling catch and a goal-line interception after that but I'm not even sure that kind of craziness can happen in a video game.
This is the ninth time in the last eleven years the latest Madden game entry has correctly predicted the winner of the big game. The scores aren't always correct, of course, and reality vs. simulation is almost never as close as tonight's wacky outcome. Even so, I'd say it's pretty damn impressive. Had we run these simulations back in the '90s, I'm fairly certain the comparisons would've been freakin' hilarious.
Not that I want to start a betting craze based on a video game simulation, or anything.
