Visceral: "Game Changers" Have Really Helped Hardline

Feedback only makes games better, right?

If you hadn't heard, there's a Battlefield: Hardline player feedback program called "Game Changers," which includes YouTubers, "influential" community members, and fans of first-person shooters in general.

In a recent GameSpot interview, senior producer Scott Probst calls that group "an accurate representation of our fan-base" and credits them with being the team's "key to success." Members of the Game Changers program were invited to developer Visceral Games to check out Hardline and the results were very positive:

"They gave us very, very clear feedback on what they really like, what they really didn't like, what they'd like to see changed. And they've been working with the team even outside of their individual visits to the studio. They've gotten on email and fired away tons of thoughts."

Probst said the Game Changers offer feedback on maps and game modes that aren't featured in the beta test, so that's good news for those planning to pick up Battlefield: Hardline when it launches on March 17. Heck, I still remember a time when you almost never saw a new video game in development; now people are playing games well before they release. How times have changed.

Fans and the actual game creation should stay FAR, FAR away from each other. Fans only know what they like, but lack the courage and smarts on how to actually move a genre forward. If you're a developer that needs fan feedback to see if you are doing something 'right', it's time to close up shop.
