Naughty Dog: Hitting 60FPS With Uncharted 4 Is "Really Hard"
In the past, Naughty Dog has said the frames per second number for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is secondary to solid game performance.
They're still targeting 60 frames per second but it isn't easy. Game director Neil Druckmann spoke about the challenge in a new Game Informer interview.
In short, hitting 60FPS for the game is pretty damn tough:
"Really f**king hard. That's true for any game. It was really hard on The Last of Us Remastered, and that's a game we had finished and we knew exactly what the end result needs to look like. And here [with Uncharted 4] we're trying to push the boundaries of what this game can look like; and do realistic, real-time cutscenes; and trying to do 60fps is really hard."
Druckmann added that the game remains a work in progress and for the time being, nothing is concrete. He says the current objective is to "make the best experience" and they'll continue to examine their progress: "We're constantly making choices to our production about what's going to make the game feel best and look its best." Well, we have no doubt they're doing exactly that.
Do you care if the game doesn't hit 60FPS? I imagine most only care about the game's performance. As we've said before, if it looks great and plays great, we're golden.
