Tekken 7 Intro Cinematic Released, The Mishimas Featured

For some reason, the opening cinematic videos for fighting games are often way cool.

Virtually no story and yet, these intro trailers for games in the Tekken series are always worth seeing.

The opening cinematic for Tekken 7 was revealed today, in celebration of the game's arcade release in Japan. Various characters appear in the video, including franchise mainstays Kazuya Mishima and Heihachi Mishimia, along with one of the title's new faces, Kazumi Mishima. Yeah, kind of a big family affair. As for other new fighters, fans can expect Lucky Chloe, Claudio, Katarina, and Shaheen.

We're waiting to hear about a console launch date for Tekken 7. Sooner rather than later, hopefully.

I still regard the introduction to Tekken 2 as one of the best introductions in gaming, purely epic. This one wasn't bad. But having the characters in a volcano just proves how silly the series has become. I gave up following the story after 3 - Which has an alternative ending with Heihachi killing Jin, so I just treat that as cannon and the end regarding the story of Tekken.

Still, I'm hoping with the Unreal engine, the mechanics wont be as light as previous games and the Juggling isn't still the main focus in the combat.

Tekken has been doing characters and volcanos since the first game. The scene is a literal throwback to the roots of the series.

And this notion that tekken has suddenly gone wacky is false. Just check the link. That's a very small list btw.

There is a difference between throwing someone in a volcano to actually fighting in one! if anything, it just proves that within the games Universe Kazuya's fate in T2 was had no consequence. But what it comes down to is that Tekken has become more silly and 'epic' as time goes on. I'm not saying the first few Tekken's were a 100% representation of realism, but the characters felt human, now they're just anime showcases.

However, not to be a complete negative nancy, it seems that the focus is on the Devil bloodline, which is what the heart of the story in Tekken has always been around, so it's good to see they're not ignoring that. Tekken 6's 'Campaign' was just ridiculous and the less I see of Alissa being featured as a main character the better...

Tekken 2 has always been wacky, just look at the character roster.

You have a bear, a kangaroo, robots etc.

I think they have pushed the wackiness but it has always been there.

Tekken 2 just happened to disguised its wackiness better than the more recent games. With its darker tone of a story, the voices (especially the animal ones), K.O screams and the distinctive soundtrack that overshadowed the gravity defying jumps.

Only a few characters (prominently Paul, Marshall, Kangaroo, Mokojin) were expected to have a comedic look into their endings. Now it's the other way around with only a few maintaining a serious ending, but is overlooked by the little humor slapped into all the others.

I dont like the whole demon angle thing. Kind of weak sauce. Just let the warriors first do the talking and not the fire lazer eyes.
