YouTuber's Complete Playthrough Of The Order: 1886 = 5 Hours

Of course, we always choose to believe the developer as opposed to rumors from random anonymous gamers.

But this sort of evidence could spell more trouble for Ready at Dawn and the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886.

There was a rumor floating around for a while, saying the game was only about 3-5 hours long. This prompted plenty of backlash, as you can well imagine, and Ready at Dawn has already said it wasn't true. But YouTube PlayMeThrough just uploaded a complete playthrough of the title in question and unfortunately, it clocks in at 5 hours, including cut-scenes (which are supposed to be unskippable).

Now, perhaps the player is going faster than most and maybe he's missing a lot of extra stuff. We don't really know just yet. But it's not good news for most consumers, who may find it difficult to shell out $60 for a 5-hour game, especially with so many massive adventures available for the same price.

And we just learned another gamer has apparently gotten the Platinum Trophy in The Order: 1886 in only 10 hours, 38 minutes.

I'll just treat it like every God of War game. I'll rent it initially and then buy it once it drops to $20.

The only games I see worthy of $60 are RPGs (and few of them actually deserve it last/current gen) and RTSs.

Don't know if it's more disappointing that it's five hours or that the developer acted all indignant as if the rumors weren't true. And we're not talking about a speed run like RE where you sprint past enemies and avoid combat. This is an actual total with cutscenes too. Can't justify this purchase. Walking around really slow and 'taking in the scenery' isnt what i buy games for..

People have beaten Demon Souls in under an hour.

Just sayin'...

There are insane speed runs of games that take most of us many hours to get through.

Not every game can be speed run. That's for games that will let you proceed regardless of if enemies are defeated or not and using alot of exploits and glitches. By all accounts, this is a normal playthrough. And from what I've seen in 20 second snippets, this guy was walking at normal speed or watching a cutscene, which seem to be WAY overdone for a game of this length. Not saying this guy hadnt played previously and knew every scenario or could be playing on easy, but typically when a game is deemed 'short' prior to release, it's not far from the truth.

I know people had pinned hopes to this game for the near two year wait since the E3 2013 for that next gen validation, but it could be a dud. Last week when the big news was that you have the ability to adjust Galahad's turn speed, my hope started to sink. I doubt it reaches 75 on Metacritic at this point. Play it, move past. and hope the next title actually delivers on its lofty boasts and promises.

If you genuinely believe it will take most people approximately 5 hours to complete, you're nutty. Even if it ended up being true, at this point with the evidence we have, it's still a crazy conclusion to come to.

I just want it to reach the 10-12 hour mark. Hopefully it does, and I don't think it's unreasonable to think that's a possibility.

What evidence is there to the contrary, Underdog? Real evidence. Not a developer being vague aboutl numbers. The only actual evidence I know of is the video that clocks in at 5 hours. If there is evidence that disproves it, please share. I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'm sorry, is this the part where I turn that question around on you for making as many conclusions as you have based on nothing?

I, and many others here, have already offered plenty of anecdotal history lessons enough to indicate how unlikely it is to be only 5 hours long for most gamers in their first playthrough. Odds are, I'm right.

Again, this isn't the first time some guy comes along to beat a game super quick before release, tarnish the game a bit, then be completely wrong once it actually releases.

Ask yourself this... what kind of person even gets access to these games before release? And do they gain anything from posting a video that gets on tons of news sites with tons of traffic to the video that is littered with ads?

All I'm asking is for you to be more realistic, stop drawing early conclusions as if they are absolutes, and you know.... wait for REAL evidence.

How is it based on " nothing"? There's a playthrough that clocks in at 5 hours WITH cutscenes is short, dude. Thats just a fact. Cutscenes are concrete time values. So if the game has about two and a half hours of cutscenes, yikes. And no matter if you walk slowly or replay same instances from death and the game clock reads 10 hours, youre still enjoying 5 hours of actual content. People say the hate extra padding, but those same folks claim they will walk and stare at skylines, ironically, giving the game their own padding. Ive tried to explain to you how a speed run through Demons Souls or any of the other games listed are not in any way relative to this because they are based on combat avoidance and exploits, while by all accounts, this games every combat situation has to be met and conquered..

There were rumors for months that the game clocked in at around 5-6 hours. I defended the length months ago, even comparing it to another fantastic short game, Vanquish. Vanquish took me about 8 hours to beat, but thats because it was tough as hell and i had to replay constantly. I dont see The Order as a game that requires a ton of skill to beat. Its a sacharrin Hollywood game for casuals. Any person with slightly above average level of TPS skill should be fine,

I just wonder why this is the game that everyone has to "wait and see" before making any judgement against. Plenty of games get ragged on prerelease if a rumore comes out. RE. FF. Why is everyone upset with this game that anything said early means youre a whiner, when these same people have done the sames thing with other games. I guess i dont really need to ask questions i know the answer to........

World explain the Plat in a little over 10hrs though? That's the true nail in the coffin IMO.
People can rush through a game but you can't speed run something unless you already know what you are doing especially in regards to speed running a Plat trophy.
If you can rush through this in 5hrs, including cutscenes, that is VERY disappointing and a speed run will only be less than that.

As for the play time, meh, people beat Dark Souls 2 in like an hour.

If this is 5 amazing hours of varied fun gameplay that progresses and evolves over the campaign I'm down.

However I bet this person put it in easy mode and rushed through things. If it is short I will probably platinum this game, unless there is something really redundant on the trophy list.

But atleast the games looks amazing right?

Like Jawk mentioned earlier, remember the rage for Ground Zeroes? What some douche did on youtube doesn't indicate the time most put into a game.

I can't believe some people still get suckered by these speed runs into believing games will be short. I'm sure more people on moderate difficulty settings will find it to be 10-12 hours, which is pretty typical these days.

Like I said above... people have beaten demon souls in under an hour. NO ONE would call that a short game.

Once again, people should actually wait until its actually OUT before they jump on bandwagons like kindergartners choosing their favorite sports teams based on who won last year. It -really- won't be hard to discern the true story a couple days after launch. If you're that bent out of shape over someone's speedrun, then wait a couple days. No biggie.

I will say that what World is saying is mostly right. I think it would be difficult to fly through some of the Uncharted and God of War games in only 5 hours (regardless of how well you played), so this is a little disappointing to me.

On the flip side, it's obvious the player in those vids is going much faster than I (or most anyone else) would play. And yes, we always get such news with linear games. It's as if gamers everywhere are intent on finding fault with the linear adventure, and the first thing they'll try to attack is the game length.

I'm fairly certain it'll take me more than 5 hours to beat The Order: 1886. And if it's 8-10, I'm perfectly okay with that. I prefer that, actually, to a 20-hour production that feels artificially stretched.

i see alot of speed runners here i guess. i feel sorry for you guys because you dont enjoy your games and just run through it. sounds like a retarded way to play but to each his own i guess. the time these people think games take doesnt apply to me at all. it actually takes me longer to play, not because i suck. i dont like to rush through a game. they say ground zeroes was beatable in minutes right? guess what, first mission took me a couple of hours. i was enjoying every minute of it. im not done yet either. i want to do a run where i put every enemy in the chopper too. difficulty adds to my time too. i play normal first in an ip i havent played, take my time then do the higher difficulty. so therese runs, probably on easy, doesnt mean anything to me. i played the demo on psx and loved playing it. got it preordered and dont care about crap like this.

on a seperate note, game needs to be cheaper because of length? maybe i see that if the game was half assed but devs still put alot of time, especially since its a new ip. by that logic, multiplayer game should cost way more than $60, no matter ghe quality right? ive spent over 1000 hours on bf4. a ton of hours on bf3, same with bad company 2. i wouldve spent that much hours with or without dlc. so by your logic, they should be charging more for that game because of how much hours i played it for. if they charge alot more for these games, i better not see any complaints about the games getting too expensive from these guys. hours playing the game is still hours playing whether in single or multi player.

im not trying to convince anyone to buy it or not. im just saying that im not basing my purchase on a couple people i dont know, who probably just wanted more views on their videos. from what i playe and saw, i know i wanted this day one. if you want to wait till its cheaper, thats on you. as for me, i will be playing.

if you really want to play it, target has a deal this week. buy the order 1886 and get $15 off a $20 psn card. thats a really good deal on launch day.

He's not speed running from what I can tell.
I watched a few clips of how the guy is doing the game play. He wasn't just racing through it. He was even doing stuff like carefully surveying the area from behind cover to ensure all the enemies were dead before moving on.

He was also walking back and forth in spots retracing steps when he didn't need to.
Stuff like that.

EDIT: I do see in the laboratory he didn't stop and play with all of the devices on the tables. He walked around thoroughly in there but didn't hit all of the context sensitive stuff. He hit some but not all. regardless he's really taking his time in this one spot. walking in circles basically.

EDIT: I saw penis

EDIT: but yea, this looks like a regularly paced play from what I can tell. I've seen enough to know.

Temjin- I didn't watch any of it so I'll take your word. There is another guy though who platinumed the game already, and he said it took him over 10 hours while both playing and enjoying the game while getting collectibles. I believe there is a link to that article actually in Bens article.

yea, 5 hours is too short. No, I wasn't expecting something much beyond 15. But I was expecting something at least in the 8-12 hour range.
Unless critics come out with headlines stating "The most exhilarating gaming triumph in recent memory (even at 5-6 hours)" I'll pass on paying $60. For me. It's actually $65 once tax is included. Washington state has some of the highest sales tax in the country.

I expect this won't go over well when it comes to scoring time though. Sure. THere's the whole quality vs quantity argument but if the premium quality is found mostly in the visuals and sound then the trade-off probably isn't worth it.
I'm sure TLoU wouldn't have scored so well if it had been 5-6 hours. And a real short length like Order's also suggests a lot about the depth of it's gaming system.

Wow people are morons...... someone doing a speed run in 5 hours doesn't equal a bad game. There are a ton of games that were deemed holy cows that were speed ruined in an hour or so, so in closing you need to think for yourself and also think on why someone who buys a game with so much behind it would set it on easy and skip everything in the game that actually makes it A "GAME" and then put it on youtube.

im very sceptical about the 5 hours i think it'll take me longer than that but man i dont rally know what to think at this point but i'd rather side with the devs atleast becasue they know their game and i'll leave it at that till that start of march when the games been out for a week or so

happy gaming

Don't worry this guy cut out parts of the game.Look at the first video and the fight with the escaped prisoners is missing. Then the second goes straight to the council which comes after the escaped prisoners.I wonder if this is a reviewer trying to make the game look bad?Don't be fooled.

FYI it is not a speed run and he just cut parts out if the game.Ben you should alter the title as this walk through is deceptive and I don't know why he cut parts out.I seen the first hour of the game a week ago and this walk through is.missing the part where you first encounter the lycans. For people worried this is not the full game.I wonder why he did this?

For the guys defending the video saying it's not a speed run, you're arguing semantics.

Someone is trying to get through the game as quickly as possible, and it's definitely not their first playthrough.

I don't care if it's not an "official speed-run", if such a thing exists... it's still a f**kin' speed run.
