Call Of Duty Won't Hit PS4 Until 2016?
The upcoming Destiny game is not our concern here.
According to court documents involving the publishing deal between Activision and Bungie, we first learn that the game known as "Destiny Games #1" is currently being developed for the Xbox 360 and its successor, the Xbox 720. The title is expected to arrive for autumn 2013, which implies the new Xbox console might be available by that time.
But even more interesting - at least for us, being a PlayStation-oriented site - is the fact that Activision doesn't expect to release a PS4 title ("Comet #2") until 2016. Therefore, it's logical to say the publisher's #1 franchise, Call of Duty, won't hit PlayStation's new system for quite some time. Maybe it's also safe to assume a CoD will be available for the Xbox 720, while the same game is only made for the PS3 (with no PS4 offering). This is the sentence that intrigues us:
"It does not expect to make titles for PS4 until 2016, however."
So what can we gather from Activision's approach? That the PS4 is behind the 720 in terms of development?

I would prefer to have Battlefield 5 and Killzone 4 on the PS4 anyway...
Reality is I won't have a PS4 for many more years as there are just to many good games to get through on the PS3, which will take me a number of years to complete...
By the time I do get a PS4, the majority if the newly released triple A titles will probably be half price for the system. My intention is to "dollar cost" average my gaming costs downward, hence waiting before purchasing new games. Of course there will be the odd AAA release I want day one, but there will be Sony exclusives for the most part I would say...

But it was a great feeling I have to say. My biggest gripe was not that I paid a high price for it, it was that after a time I began losing features such as Linux.
I had bought it at that price because I saw it as a computer and games machine, and I felt the price was justified for what I wanted it for. It only become a wasted investment when the features I needed it for (besides gaming) were taken away. I suddenly had to have another computer in my room instead of only having one. It cost me space, time and money.
Now I am no so keen to get the console day 1. I would much rather see what happens in the first 24 months and wait for all the gremlins and software to improve. I have learnt my lesson and will not repeat it... Sorry, but Sony needs to learn its lessons too... which it is doing I think, and it has cost them greatly.
Such is life...

I think Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 will be the Xbox 720 release titles - both of which are pretty solid. I also have a 360 - but find xbox live has too many kids on it compared to psn - which is why we play cod on psn.

2 totally different developers!
ones never worked on a playstation console where the other has, so common sense would say the former would take allot longer to release anyway because of the time required to acquaint themselves.
plus one is a MMO and a bungie title which always take years to make.
the other is COD a franchise which is turned out more frequently than people shower!

When the little kids come round, I pop in Mario Kart or New Super Mario Bros Wii. With older kids, I pop in Rock Band, Scene it, Dance Central or Littlebig Planet. When my mates come round, it's Twisted Metal, Halo or CoD time!! Lately, Trials Evolution has been getting the most love. Best XBL game I've bought in ages!!!
I've found a nice balance with current consoles.
PS3 is great for single player titles, Blu-rays and artistic and immensely engrossing new IP's.
360 is great for online or split-screen shooters, racers or party games with friends.
Wii is great for kids or a ride on the nostalgia train with friends.
I'm perfectly fine with the PS4 or Xbox 720 coming out later. I think mid-2014 would be the sweet spot, not too late, but at the point when most will be starting to get tired of the 360 and PS3.
Unless 360 had blu-ray, and PS3 had cross game chat, I really don't see a need for next gen consoles, especially when Naughty Dog can make games on PS3 look as good as Battlefield 3 on PC. Yes! Uncharted 2 and 3 really did look THAT amazing!!!
A recent article stated Epic Games has seen the specs for Xbox 720, maybe PS4 too, and said that they weren't high enough to run Unreal Engine 4 in real time. I'm guessing Xbox 720's specs were the ones revealed. PS4 would no doubt run UE4 with little problem.
Either that, or Epic needs to teak their new engine a little to make it work on next-gen systems.

Activision likely already has the early version of the next XBox dev kit but nothing from Sony outside perhaps a early spec sheet, but they will by the end of the year most likely or shortly after the New Year.
It won't matter if it's late if the hardware rumor is true and the PS4 and Next XBox more or less have the same (disappointing) hardware. If that is the case then ports are going to be near effortless to accomplish unlike this generation and the pain in the ass it was to go from XBox 360 to PS3.
The thing we know with 100% certainty is that Sony isn't going to give Microsoft a year or more head start, no matter their financial situation. Nor is the PS4 going to be remotely close to $600 or even $500. There's no nice way to say it, if you think the PS4 is going to be $600 you're an ignoramus.

What was leaked is the publishing agreement between activision and BUNGIE.
Bungie does not make Call of Duty.
Bungie used to belong to Microsoft and agreed to set them free, remember that. But under what conditions?
Also, SONY doesn't want to give MS another year long head start.
Trying to conect the dots. I guess the Xbox Next will launch Fall 2013 and the PS4 will launch about the same time or a few months later.
But the PS4 won't get the FIRST or SECOND Bungie games until later if at all, as a part of the agreement between MS and Bungie to set them free.
What this means, is that the PS4 will get BUNGIE games after 2016, that's all. There is no mention of Call of Duty.
Who ever is extrapoling this to Call of Duty just wants to generate hits to his website.

I've read it over several times and it just sounds like it's saying Bungie's games are exclusive for a few years...which honestly I don't really care about.
I really can't wait for the COD fad to disappear...I've had guys even tell me that I'm not a real man unless I like COD...wow.

I would say its much more likely Activision were given a firm release date for the new Xbox and possibly a machine to work on. Hopefully by now Playstation will have followed suit.
With Activisions great love of money - does anyone really think they would miss the opportunity to release on one of the major platforms with an established fanbase?
Wishful thinking by the anti-COD crowd - just not realistic.
