New MGSV Info: Detailed World, "Deep Weapon System"

Yeah, I know. If you're a Metal Gear Solid fan, you can't possibly have enough information for MGSV.

If you've been following along, you've got a good idea of what to expect in The Phantom Pain. But here are a few more interesting tidbits courtesy of Metal Gear Informer.

Kojima and partner Shinkawa were talking on the latest Kojima Station episode and they addressed several topics of interest: Firstly, even though the game has a more open design, it will still boast the same "attention to detail" for which the franchise is known. Secondly, the weapon system will be "deep and detailed," which is actually Shinkawa's doing. Kojima didn't want it quite so deep and he called Shinkawa "a little nuts" for doing it, but Kojima ended up being "blown away."

Additionally, you can adjust the color of your Mother Base and your vehicles, and you can even create custom emblems. You may have seen the ballistic shield Snake has at his disposal; when he carries it on his back, it will still deflect bullets, and the shield can be used in conjunction with your guns.

Kojima says it's the MGS he's wanted to make for a long time, but wasn't able to due to technical constraints. He also thinks this is the "best playing" Metal Gear, which is always good to hear. Despite the greatness of past games, the control mechanic always did feel difficult and needlessly awkward (in my view, anyway).

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 1, 2015.

Oh man I cannot wait. This is going to be epic. I'm happy with the way the controls turned out too if Ground Zeroes is the standard. However I do wish it wasn't so reliant on auto aim like GTA games. It's almost an identical system though a little smoother than GTA.

I too agree the controls were always a tad awkward in MGS games. I popped MGS4 in last night just and it immediately occurred to me how dated the controls and gunplay are compared to Ground Zeroes. Just not very streamlined.

Also I do hope that people spend more time with MGO so Kojima doesn't feel the need to pulll the plug on it like he did with the MGO packaged with MGS4. Kinda pissed me off that I spent money on the add on content for MGO only to have Konami and Kojima shut down the service.

I, for example, never played it, because they decided to use a separate network, instead of the PSN.

Why would that matter? It functioned better than many games played over PSN?

It is true, MGS always had a weird control scheme that took some getting used to.

If this controls at least like Ground Zeroes then yeah it definitely is the best playing MGS.

I hope the story doesn't suffer with the more open world approach. I wonder if this game or The Witcher 3 will be the first to break the curse of open world games struggling to deliver a well paced narrative.

I guess I'm in the minority so that loved the original controls. You had to figure out how things worked and once you did master them, it was just another accomplishment in the game.I even remember as the very start of MGS1 trying to get under the first pipe.I had only rented the game so no controls book! Took me a while...ha.

I've been playing a bit of GZ but I hate to say it...I'm just not feeling it yet, but not sure why as I've really enjoyed all the other entries.

From a MG fan everything is shaping up nicely except I can't help but notice Kojima saying this is always the Metal Gear he's wanted to do. So how is this being done multi-plat and cross gen? Wouldn't that in a way be more restricting than Guns of the Patriots being a PS3 exclusive ?
