Helldivers Glitches Include One That Sadly Wipes Saves
Helldivers is a great game.
Too bad the launch has been plagued with a few issues, one of which totally erases save data.
You can see an example of that over at Kotaku: The first and most annoying bug is if your DualShock 4 controller dies, your save disappears. A new Lv. 1 character spawns and immediately overwrites your last save...which really, really sucks. Developer Arrowhead has acknowledged the problem and posted the following on the game's Subreddit:
"Wiped progression? Don't turn off your controller!
There is currently an issue with players experiencing wiped save data. We found an issue related to the controller dropping its connection to the game and then when you reconnect, the game spawns your avatar before it manages to load your old save. This results in what looks like lost progress, and often results in progress being lost if you let the game finish its save.
What we are doing about it: We have fixed this specific occurrence and are investigating other ways that save data might get reset as we are seeing reports of unrelated save reset issues. The fix for this specific issue will be in patch 1.03.
Players have been reporting other bugs as well, so here's hoping patch 1.03 will fix a bunch of annoying glitches. It's too bad, too, because the game really is super cool.
One last thing: I just love the headline for this over at Kotaku. Can it be more painfully obvious that these tools have been anti-PlayStation since the beginning of the PS3 era? I mean, I would've been embarrassed to post that review of The Order: 1886 on my site. When your conclusion says, "a dreary, joyless lump of a game," your bias has infected what is supposed to be a professional process. Anywho.
