PS4 Keeps Winning, And Without The Help Of AAA Exclusives
After the NPD released the February results, Sony provided the press with a statement.
PlayStation 4 appears to have topped the hardware list in North America yet again, but perhaps of even greater importance is the continued growth of the new console.
Did you know that in terms of growth, PS4 is the fastest in PlayStation history?
"Demand for PlayStation 4 remains incredibly strong in the U.S. as it was #1 in hardware and software sales in February according to the latest NPD report. PS4 remains the cumulative leader in hardware sales with more than 20.2 million units sold to consumers worldwide demonstrating the fastest growth in PlayStation hardware history."
I guess I'm just surprised that all this is happening without the assistance of a AAA exclusive. I mean, as much as I've enjoyed games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, inFamous: Second Son, and The Order: 1886, I'm not sure PS4 has seen a true-blue AAA exclusive just yet. Maybe we'll get it with Bloodborne but really, perhaps it doesn't matter. Sony has already sold well over 20 million units worldwide without the benefit of a hard-hitting Uncharted, Gran Turismo, or God of War.
They continue to beat Xbox One even with a more expensive price tag for PS4, which is just plain mind-boggling. Remember when PS3 was $200 more expensive than Xbox 360? Even great early exclusives like Warhawk and Heavenly Sword weren't enough. That was just disastrous. And while a $50 difference is a lot bigger than $200, we're still looking at a system that doesn't have that much to offer from an exclusive standpoint. So, why do you think Sony keeps beating Microsoft this generation?
