Square Enix Teases JRPG For Consoles
It's probably too much to hope that it's something long-time fans want, but it's hard not to wonder...
In a recent Nikkei Trendy interview with Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda (as translated by Gematsu), we hear about a little "surprise" the publisher has planned for later in the year.
Matsuda first says new JRPG news will begin with Final Fantasy XV's release; after that, "I think we'll have a little surprise, too." He clarified that it was a "JRPG for home game machines" but otherwise, he offered no further details or information. It's a little surprising because Square Enix has really only known solid success publishing outside titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider. Their JRPG prowess has long since fallen off.
So, what do you think it is? Might it be a revival of a PS1 IP like Vagrant Story? Could it be the return of a legendary franchise like Secret of Mana or Chrono? Or will it be a brand new IP? Discuss.
