Capcom Reveals Details For Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition

Can't get enough Devil May Cry?

Not long after the Remastered version of DmC: Devil May Cry lands on store shelves, Capcom hands over the details for Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, scheduled to release this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

As revealed at the publisher's blog, the updated version will boast 1080p visuals and 60 frames per second, along with no fewer than five playable characters. That's right, in addition to Dante and Nero, fans will get a chance to play as Virgil, Trish, and Lady. For details on each character and what they'll bring to the bloody fray, click through the link above.

Capcom will also bring us "improvements to the game tempo and balancing," along with new costumes that will even be reflected in the cut-scenes. Maybe all of this is leading up to the announcement of a brand new DmC; perhaps it'll be announced at E3...?

Do you think these remasters and re-releases are just so the publishers can keep their pants warm through the game winter?

Like they still need to make income while they work on the next Dragon's Dogma or w.e Capcoms next big production is.

They are not the only company to do this, and all of them do sit on big IPs from yesteryears.

Yes, I think the remasters are just a way for the publishers to keep quarterly earnings up without spending to many resources.

Man that trailer reminded me exactly why the series never needed a reboot. Even the logo looked far cooler back then. Sure the graphics are somewhat dated but the game did have a 60fps target back then too.
Anyway I hope DMC looks and feels more like this again in the future. The whole euro-punk-goth thing was a misstep Capcom.

So with this up too where does that leave the future of the franchise? In Limbo? Resident Evil-land? Make a decision already!

My thoughts exactly, where the hell are we going with DMC are we getting Devil May Cry 5 or Dmc2? I can't really invest in either until I know the future of the serie sans which direction it is going in, no way am I buying dmc4 if there is no plans for 5.

Also, is there any indication tha the characters have story modes, rather than just being a selectable character in Bloody Palace mode? DMC3s story mode with Vergil was very lacking, mostly just the same encounters as the main game with sparse cutscenes inbetween.

yeah I think those extra characters are just skins, at least Vergils Downfall is an extra episode.

But yeah I wanna know the future, I mean I doubt they even know but it drives me nuts cuz I love the franchise.

I'm not a fan of remasters unless they add something worthwhile that wasn't in the original game.

Three playable characters? This just might be a remaster that i can get behind.

I think it'd be awesome if they make Devil May Cry 5 and DmC 2.
Same franchise but 2 separate series.

I would too, I just doubt they'd try to sustain two DMC universes. Though its not impossible.

So many characters to choose from all with different playstyles. The Trish/Lady team has me really excited though,Trish made dmc2 so much better to playthrough.

Too bad they didn't finish the levels or added the bosses that were supposedly cut out from the original due to time constraints, or did they?

Now Thisss was a DMC. Notice that it didn't advertise graphical improvements - although now console owners can get the 1080p.

I'll be getting it. Have on PC (cheap as chips) but will probably never continue on it.

Raises the question: why was the latest DMC: DmC allowed to even be less than 60fps?

The Devilish DMC3 was 60fps on PS2 as all their other action games (hail Capcom's glory days).

Says a lot about what Ninja Theory thought about the one particular game and the state of old Unreal Engine 3. Their own Gaiden's were 60.

Guess we can say this was before Dante knew what 60fps was :D

They wanted to contract Ninja Theory to do the reboot but NT had no training on Capcom's MX engine. They had only just learned Unreal 3. So they had to build DMC on Unreal 3 which has notorious framerate issues and the best NT could deliver was 30. I think they did well with it cuz the control compensated for the tech without lag, but having 60 back in the DE is tasty.

Seeing the MX engine on PS4 should be tasty too.

I loved the Zaney awesomeness of the first 4 games. The music and everything was just amazing.

I haven't played DmC other than the demo but I think I will one day.

I personally want them to continue with DMC5, I just liked the games style more.

This and the earlier release looks like Capcom trying to squeeze enough money out of them to fund a new game in the series. All I'm thinking about though is that the entire DMC cast is now playable...well except for Lucia.

Never played 4, so for me this remaster is appealing.

Now this is a remaster I can get behind :D I won't shed all of my thoughts about the DmC: Definitive Edition, other than it didn't interest me for....reasons.

Lady and Trish being playable is an awesome addition, although some small part of me hoped Capcom would actually "finish" the game by giving Dante a campaign that's not a mirror image of Nero's one....

Looking at gameplay videos now, it really does make me question why DMC even needed a reboot in the first place. The gameplay in DMC4 was the best it had ever been.

Hopefully this means a return to the original series :3
