Played The FFXV Demo? Square Enix Wants Your Impressions

Square Enix is into the surveys lately.

Earlier this month, the publisher wanted detailed information from gamers concerning the once-vaunted Final Fantasy franchise.

Now, they've launched another survey, and this one wants your feedback on the recently released Final Fantasy XV demo. It was available with Final Fantasy Type-0 and allowed players to sample 2-3 hours of the sprawling Duscae region. The feedback you provide will be shared with the development team, presumably to make the final product better.

To participate, you'll need to register your copy of the game at the site linked above; the idea being that Square Enix will only get feedback from those who have actually played the demo. If you did, feel free to give 'em what they want.

Hmm. Interesting. Why now are they so super interested in feedback? Does it stem from the poorer than anticipated sales reception of Lightning Returns? (Not that a million is bad, but perhaps could be considered bad for an established franchise like FF?)

I wonder how much longer this game will take to come out. After the news about being unsure if they're adding airships plus the fact it's been in development for about as long as the PS3 has been around as well as the news about them saying the percentages of completion will change... and now looking for feedback about the game...

Why does it feel like they're not entirely confident? Or maybe I'm reading into it too deeply, and they're simply hoping to tweak it into something that plays perfectly?

Don't all betas that release within the year or even a few months before the final product ask the same thing? Feedback?

Also, they're probably interested in feedback now because they really want this game to be the next big thing. They said they're aiming for it to be the greatest FF ever, or something along those lines.

Yeah, that could be. I think it's just when combined with all the other stuff that got me thinking about it. I'm probably looking too intensely at it.

"Why now are they so super interested in feedback? "

So they can ignore it all and when prompted, say they asked for feedback. ;)

Will our impute really have any effect? My friend and I tackled the demo. Accompanied by a few beers to celebrate it no less. I thought the art direction and environment was pretty nice for a demo. It had enough Japanese style art to remind you that it's not The Witcher or the next Elder Scrolls. The characters were fine, unique and what I expected.

What I want to change is the combat. World said it best the other day. The parry and attack mechanic dons't work. I don't even want that kind of stuff in my JRPG in the 1st place. If there going to shove the hack n' slash down our throat then it should at least work. Even coping and pasting the Dissidia system would be better than this.

And I hope the full version is as dark and mature as the Vs XIII trailer was back in 06.

I gave them my feedback and commended them on delivering a superb gaming experience. Applauding the confrontation of the Behemoth was much more interesting that past monster hunts or XII & XIII. Instead of just going to location A, beating monster B & claiming reward C it was a far more fleshed out experience. Learning clues and I absolutely loved sneaking behind the Behemoth as it returns to it's lair, the foggy atmosphere mad it so intense. Also, I thought it was brilliant how the team learned the enemies weakness and acted on it with Ignis' plan.

The only negatives I noted were about the lock-on system - If an enemy you had on target was to move of screen, you'd lose your lock on. A simple resolve would be to have the camera focus on the target. Also, in the demo when you reached minimal health you would later gain access to a spell which just annihilated everything. It was a bit of an abusive fail-safe, which I presume will be different in the main game and was there for demonstration purposes.

Beyond that I loved it though, if that is a demonstration of how interesting the side-missions will be in XV I can't wait for the full experience.

Where did you find your games registration code?

I only have the FF15 leaflet in the case.

That's cool and all but this game is probably can't accommodate much change at this point unless they can think up a better combat system. Though that's probably part of the programming now.

I'm more interested in if they will listen to the feedback on the next "real" FF game, which I assume will ask for a reall FF experience like the old days.

If only the new idiots filled it out then we are in trouble. Then again, like Ben said they would probably ignore us anyway.

The thing is Tabata and Nomura have said in many interviews they are trying to make this feel like a final fantasy of old, they are taking inspiration from ff4 5 and 6 among others.

Tabata really wants to make the best Final Fantasy he can.

I'm sorry you don't like the combat system I find it quite nice, although it could be tweaked a bit the framework is good. Also fix that camera and lock on system.

They never listened to the fans, why would they start now?
I don't know man, kinda feels like they're just gonna ignore any feedback even though they're asking for it.
That or they seriously have no idea what they're supposed to do.

My only real complaint in the combat. Does it feel like a clusterfuck to anyone else? The camera first off. Second was the dodge and parry. It was awkward during the training( especially parry) and I never got it down afterwards. It might be just me, but I had a difficult time keeping an eye on my health and trying to work combat, especially with large number of enemies. Fortunately you don't actually die when your health hits 0. I haven't finished the demo. I've got too much on my plate lately, but I've attempted behemoth and the Imp cave*.
