Infinity Ward Seeking Help For "Exciting" Next-Gen Title
It seems as if all the big developers are turning their attention to the next round of game consoles.
Now it's Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward's turn to look ahead, as evidenced by a new job listing for a Senior Network Engineer.
As you might expect, they're saying the project in question is currently "unannounced" but they do confirm it's for "next generation console systems." We've often wondered if IW would deliver anything but CoD; maybe they will, maybe they won't, but many are certainly hoping for a Modern Warfare 4. And when that game arrives, likely in late 2013 as per CoD tradition, it could be available for at least one new piece of hardware.
Here's part of the job description:
"Come work with the game industry's brightest to design and implement high level network code for an exciting unannounced title for next generation console systems."
For now, Activision only has the Bungie-developed "Destiny" project on their next-gen slate but that's bound to change soon. As for Infinity Ward, we think they should make an RPG. ...all right, maybe not.

They sure know their multiplayer shooters. But what else can they do? I'd love to see that.

The MW franchise has been hugely successful for IW and Activision and has a loyal fanbase of many millions - but it isn't innovative enough for gaming purists - so they will therefore decide against making MW4.
No really.
