Rocksteady: Arkham Knight's Openness Expands Overall Scope

The bigger the game is, the more options a developer has.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be the most open Batman experience yet, and developer Rocksteady is taking full advantage of this evolution.

As Social Marketing Manager Gaz Deaves told GamingBolt, it has been "liberating" to take the Caped Crusader into a true sandbox environment:

"The extra scope has given us so much opportunity to enhance every aspect of the game. Gliding and navigating the rooftops has been expanded to accommodate the increased size of the city – both in terms of footprint and vertical height – and at street level the Batmobile gives us a lot of options for mixing up combat, navigation, problem-solving and more."

The game's size affects the number of enemies you'll encounter, and you'll also "see them dynamically rioting and looting as they move around the city." You can choose to engage them or not; it's up to you. If you like, you can just drive through them with the Batmobile, which should make short work of the problem.

Yes, but will we still get that interesting storyline, or will the open-world structure invariably affect that aspect of the game? I'm betting on the latter but whatever. Batman: Arkham Knight recently received another delay, but only for a few weeks; it's now set to arrive on June 23.

I believe in RockSteady and have every confidence that the story will only be enhanced by the open world playground that is Arkham Knight. Im basing this on playing Arkham City. Long live the Bat.......

I'm worried about the story since this is the first Rocksteady Batman game that wasn't written by Paul Dini.

I personally believe gamers will the same level of story as the other Arkham games. We'll just have a bigger sandbox to play in.
