PSXE Poll Update: Most Expect "Nothing Special" From New Xbox

The new Xbox will be unveiled on May 21 but the majority of our readers aren't too excited.

Granted, we're a PlayStation-oriented website, but we also have a well-rounded community that simply loves video games. Therefore, asking them if they're interested in a new game system (regardless of the manufacturer) is a perfectly legitimate question.

However, perhaps due to the assortment of less-than-encouraging rumors floating around, the vast majority of those polled aren't expecting anything special from the Xbox 720. There has been speculation concerning the possibility of manufacturing issues (potentially relating to a launch delay), an extreme emphasis on social media, and the theory that the system simply won't have enough exclusive software. We can't say anything definitively just yet, but we always hope for a gaming console that gamers will love. Besides, competition begets quality, does it not?

This week, it's time to reflect on the recent announcement: Call of Duty: Ghosts. It boasts a new engine, new story and characters, and of course, a new title. Do you expect Infinity Ward to deliver a truly worthwhile first-person shooter experience? Do you think they'll rejuvenate a franchise many have started to call stale? Or are you viewing it as simply another mindless blockbuster that does nothing new?

It's CoD so you know what you'll get.

I expect some awesome things from the new Xbox. I don't think Microsoft is that arrogant to believe that without any distinction in terms of games, the gamers will flock to them. So the games will definitely be there. Personally, I don't mind the Kinect focus of the past few years. If you are going to advertise and market for people to buy a peripheral, at least support it. And it's not as if Microsoft putting teams on Kinect is depriving me of all the other non-Kinect games that are available on the market.

As for CoD. I expect it to remain the king of action first person shooters in terms of campaigns. I've never played a CoD multiplayer and I suspect that won't change.

I'd argue the "King" of action first person shooters is actually much more likely to be Resistance or Killzone than CoD.

Don't care about CoD one way or another, but the title dies make me long fit the unrealized dream that was Starcraft: Ghost.

It was a freakin live-action trailer that showed NO gameplay at all. How can anyone critique it and vote yet? We don't even have any details about the story and/or gameplay innovations yet.

This pole is just an attempt to throw even more hate on the call of duty name, and personally I'm getting sick of it. Everyone one knows that 90% of this community hates anything call of duty related, why even have the poll?

Play every single genre of video games, and pretty much have all of the must have titles this generation and the past. I consider myself a hardcore gamer having been playing since the sega genesis. The only reason I bring this up is because I want everyone to know that I don't only play shooters, and still I love call of duty. It serves its purpose...which is to deliver Fun. Especially multiplayer fun.

I mean isn't that what games are for? But hey...on this site im in the minority... but to the world, all of you call of duty haters are minorities. What happened to all the "Elitism" articles from back in the day?

im more excited to see what their research and development teams bring.
M$ has THE biggest R&D team out there, year after year after year they have the largest R&D costs of any company in the WORLD!
so im really excited to see what the result of that is.
be it ilumniroom, the new kinect, or maybe something different something that has not been leaked yet.

take on COD!?
