Lost Orbit: A Unique Game That Celebrates Frustrating Fragility
A lost astronaut, hopelessly pitched into the yawning blackness of the great void, must somehow survive while attempting to evade...well, everything.
That's the premise of Lost Orbit, a nifty new game revealed over at the PlayStation Blog. Scheduled to release next week (May 12), it's a "dodge-'em-up" that is fast and furious with a distinct dose of loneliness.
The developers at PixelNAUTS wanted you to have fun, despite your terrible predicament. Hence, we get a fast-moving arcade-style game that involves upgrading your equipment, over 40 levels of increasingly dangerous debris and other obstacles, and death around every corner. The protagonist, Harrison, "is little more than a fragile sack of organs," which players discover soon enough. This is all about reaction times and the designers admit that frustration will be high.
But the addictive quality of the game, coupled with the unique gameplay and setting, might just keep you coming back for more. Besides, you must get one hell of a sense of satisfaction if you can survive!
