Gran Turismo Celebrates 15 Years, Big Announcements Coming

Believe it or not, it has been over 15 years since Gran Turismo debuted. And now it's time to celebrate.

Polyphony Digital and Sony are paying homage to what many consider to be the greatest video game racing franchise of all time. As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, there will be a special Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary Event at the Silverstone Race Circuit in England on May 15. It's a fitting setting, yes?

And at that event, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi will make "some exciting announcements about the future of the brand." If you're intrigued, you can follow the activities at the Blog, or at GranTurismo.com. For months, we've been anticipating the unveiling of Gran Turismo 6, which could be a cross-generation title. We've seen evidence of it coming to the PS3, but none that would indicate it might arrive on the PS4...maybe that's part of the "exciting announcements" on tap, though. GT6 as a PS4 launch title!

Who's ready for more Gran Turismo?

This will be a great treat for me to see this on the 15th, since I will be coming home from my last two finals of the semester that day.

I want a new GT to platinum already!!!

I am still sticking to my guns in saying that GT6 will be a PS3, PS4, and Vita title.

Gran turismo as a ps4 launch litle would kill any hope Drive club has of making a serious name for itself as a PS brand.
Then theres the engine that polypony spent years developing, did they design it with cell AND x86 in mind ??,seems a shame & a waste to just dump all that hard work and start over with a new cross gen engine which to be half decent has to at least been in development since 2010.
Logically a PS3 release is where the real money is & as i said a gt6 ps4 launch would kill Drive club, move PS4 units but harm a new IP...decisions???
Ps.
i'm assuming Drive club, is a PS4 launch title.

Not for me. I want both games although I would actually want a vita one. The vita needs a good racer.

theres no way in hell GT6 is going to be a launch title, that will totally destroy any hope drive club has of becoming a well known successful franchise!
even if drive club got delayed to make room for GT6, it would always and forever be in its shadow.
plus you know what kaz is like, hes a perfectionist there is no way in hell GT6 will be ready to release by the end of the year!

eh, whatever platform it is on i just hope they add some god dam damage!
hope its on ps4 that way they can hopefully use the soft body physics, the tech demos of late really have been amazing!
wish they would bring back the licenses too they were so much fun!
and please, for the challenges, get rid of all these boring old cars, and new slow crappy ones.
yea, i really play GT6 so i can drive a 20 year old ferrari, or a brand new pile of sh*t!
for races and spec B type events there great, but for the challenges whats the point?
O, and they NEED a spectators mode type thing like what forza 4 had, being able to just walk around the cars, open the door, sit behind the wheel and view the cockpit, and even listening to jeremys jibber jabber was great.

O, and kaz, remember, LESS IS MORE!
his ambition having so many cars, so many different types of racing, rally, ect, really spoiled GT6!
better to have half a game perfected, than a full game half finished!
