The Witcher 3 Becomes UK's Biggest Game Launch In 2015

No big surprise here.

According to Gfk Chart-Track's latest sales data (via GamesIndustry.biz), CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the UK's biggest video game launch of 2015 so far.

The critically acclaimed RPG easily surpassed the previous leader, Battlefield: Hardline, beating the shooter's week-one retail sales take by a whopping 53 percent. As for how the new game compared to its predecessor, The Witcher 3, it wasn't even close: The Witcher 3 sold a ridiculous 608 percent more than the previous entry in the first week. Interestingly, The Witcher 2 sold 1.7 million units in the first month, so the latest installment should see a very big number.

Farming Simulator 2015 comes in at #2 for the previous week, by the way. Anybody expect that?

That is interesting about Witcher 2. That's pretty high for a platform that losses big to pirates.

I do wonder how many of the Witcher 3 sales are from the PC users.
It's a highly circumstantial reason, but I notice that when I look at my list of like 20-30 or so PSN friends, there's only a small handful playing the game, at least when I check. Though with both Bloodborne and Order when they launched, my friends list was at least 2 to 3 times more active with said games.
Just an observation on my end.

I also find it interesting that the PC patches are deploying one step ahead of the console releases. This seems backwards. Could it mean CDProjekt is giving their "core" base priority?

I worked on a farm every summer for three years when I was a student.

Long hours, rubbish pay, got stang off a wasp.

So if the simulator is anything like that, no thanks. ;-)
