The Witcher 3 Does Have An XP Bug, But Remember This...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt unfortunately has plenty of bugs (like the nasty one that wrecked our review play-through).

But this one isn't that bad. In fact, maybe it's not a glitch at all...at least, not all the time.

Players have been complaining about receiving no experience points for finishing certain quests. Developer CD Projekt Red says they're working to fix it - so it's definitely a glitch of some kind - but they also want players to understand the following, as explained in this post in their forums:

"Quests that are six levels (or more) lower than yours are not granting experience. Anything else should reward you with exp[erience], we are looking into the issue."

They have since found the bug and are working to fix it, but if you don't receive experience from a quest after completing it, the reason might not be technical. It could just be that you're too high in level. And hey, it wouldn't have mattered that much to you, anyway.

I could use some XP. I'm only lvl 5. I went back to White Orchard to clean up on side quests. I also found a schematic to make a wicked cool sword from a tomb after killing a wraith that protected it.

as an aside. so I thought this game was supposed to be one BIG map. I distinctly remember editors from other sites claiming that. Where if you started from one corner on horse back and rode to the other it would take like a long time. No. It's actually been fragmented like Dragon's Age or something. At least from what I can tell. I've tried running from the border of White Orchard into another territory and it won't let me.

Yeah it's fragmented, but Velen/Novigrad and Skellige are massive.

I think that Velen and Novigrad are connected and the rest is fragmented. When I view the map, nothing changes between those two territories.

Yeah, there's Velen/Novigrad, White Orchard, Skellige Isles, Royal Palace in Vizima (which is very small), and Kaer Morhen.

You should receive XP from every quest, I get defining the amount of XP based on your level but no XP? That's just stupid, where's the incentive to play the quests that are more than 6 levels below yours?

for the deeply involved mini-stories and original experiences that never feel like fetch quests?

Good point. But I still feel like you should get some XP you know?
