Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Sets Kickstarter Record

I'm sorry, I'm just not surprised at all.

It took only a few days for former Castlevania producer Koji "IGA" Igarashi's Kickstarter campaign to reach its goal of $500,000.

It has since generated nearly $4.5 million and the campaign isn't even over yet. It has already become the most funded video game ever on Kickstarter, easily eclipsing the former record-holder, Torment: Tides of Numenera, which pulled in $4,188,000. As Bloodstained follows in the footsteps of old 2D Castlevania titles, does this not prove that such a style of gameplay isn't dead?

I say Konami needs to seriously consider a true-blue successor to Symphony of the Night. The gaming world quite clearly would adore one.

Doesn't seem like Konami cares about gaming as any more than an afterthought anymore to take note of this. Not that it matters much in this case. This pretty much IS a true-blue successor to SotN, does it really matter that you're not fighting Dracula again?

Edit: Also, Konami did make a successor to SotN once if you ask me. It was Dawn of Sorrow, which was absolutely brilliant.

It was for DS, it was a sequel for a GBA one called Aria of Sorrow.

God bless gamers for showing what they want despite being told they don't want it.
