Upon Reflection: What Are Some Of Your Favorite E3 Moments?

As we embark on another potentially slendiferous E3 show, we just want to know:

What are some of your favorite memories for the show? Which moments have stuck out most in your memory?

You're at risk for showing your age if you go too far back (i.e., "I remember when they showed off the first PlayStation!"). ;) But there have been so many great memories; it's difficult to select just one, isn't it? Personally, I've always been partial to the surprises that made me excited to be a gamer. Games I sorta expect are coming, or even gameplay samples of titles I already knew about never blew me away (with only a few exceptions).

But every once in a while, they reveal something so astoundingly great, so chock full of potential, brimming with ambition and great design ideas, that it just makes me happy. I'm not interested in tech or numbers or more expected sequels. While some of that can be great, I want to be blown out of my chair, you know?

Thoughts?

My first year attending it in 2003 was pretty awesome just for the sensory overload. One of the other PSXE staffers was propositioned by a lady of the evening outside the convention center, that had us laughing for awhile.

In 2006 I found myself parked at the Konami booth every 45 minutes to watch the Guns of the Patriots demo over and over and over. Seeing Crysis in action for the first time was also mindblowing.

That was also the year of Sony's outrageously awful PS3 presser. $599, MASSIVE CRAB DAMAGE, etc. My girlfriend at the time, who was a performance engineer for Intel, got into a huge, embarrassing argument with a guy from Monolith when he tried to claim that F.E.A.R. would run, look and play exactly the same on 360 as it did on PC.

As for announcements, I think the most memorable was when Square announced that Final Fantasy XIII was going to be multiplatform and everybody lost their shit.

MS shitting the bed with the Xbox One unveil and Sony mopping the floor with them the next day was also pretty epic.

That Final Fantasy multiplatform thing was awesome. That was when people still thought FFXIII would be another great entry in the series.

I don't know it was E3 or what but there was that time where Square Enix just trolled Sony's show. That made me laugh.

My personal favorite e3 moment is from e3 2009 when naughty dog show uncharted 2 gameplay demo, that game blew up my mind. I hope naughty dog blow my mind again with uncharted 4 in this year e3...

MGS2 tanker trailer. Nothing else comes close for me.

When they first revealed footage my jaw dropped. Nothing since then has given me the same level of excitement or amazement i got from that trailer.

I like the parodys that get done. I remember the one they did for the ps4 and xbone. It's a box wow. You can turn it on and you can turn it off. I was crying with laughing watching it.

In other news: It's confirmed, Fallout will indeed come this november. Ka-chiiing, another bet collected! :)

And the details regarding the game is *fantastic*. Exactly what we wanted to see, there's even pre-apocalypse gameplay! Plus the graphics looks totally awesome too.

My head is spinning after seeing fallout 4, doom, and dishonored 2.
The day is just starting too. And fallout this year? Good grief I don't have time for all these games!

I never really paid attention to E3 or gaming news in general until 2007 or 2008 or so. I still remember not ever having heard of Kingdom Hearts and seeing it on a store shelf. I bought it because it had disney characters and Cloud on the box. I was like... wtf is this... it looks.... ammmaaaaaazing.

Square will never properly remake Final Fantasy VII. Or perhaps it's more accurate to say they won't do it until/unless they're absolutely desperate, like "sell the gold jewelry you inherited from grandma to pay the rent" desperate. Up to that point they'll be content re-releasing the same shitty Windows port to new consoles over and over.

I just remember sometime last year there was a report about NNK2 possibly being announced at 2015 E3.
