Konami: MGSV's Microtransactions Don't Affect The Balance

Whenever a developer confirms microtransactions for a game, the suspicion level rises among consumers.

So, when Konami announced microtransactions for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, gamers were understandably miffed.

However, in a new 40-minute gameplay presentation featuring plenty of developer commentary, the publisher clarified their position:

"While it is true that a few microtransactions option due exists, the entire game has been carefully balanced to be fair and enjoyable with or without using these options. There's no pay to win option. Rest assured that every single item, weapon, and mission in the game is available to all players without paying a single cent."

Konami added that microtransactions were added as a "completely optional feature" for players who might not have time to explore every nook and cranny of the game's massive areas. "Nothing more, nothing less," they said. Does that put you at ease? Or are you still a little worried?

Besides this subject, they also talked about the game's slick buddy system, the inclusion of dynamic weather, and other topics of interest. Check it out:

I've always purchased the MGS series for it's offline content therefore what happens in my game file is up to me. I don't care if others are spending their money on whatever it is they want, it doesn't affect me.

I like exploring and while I don't have as much time as others, I fine myself appreciating a game more when there are days in between gaming sessions and MGS falls at the top of my appreciation list.

Are the micros for the single player or the multiplayer?

I hope that whatever they have for the multiplayer is cosmetic only, and that we can still unlock cosmetic stuff from playing the game.

MGO did a pretty good job although unlocking a lot of the cool gear was a huge grind.

I wonder if microtransactions were one of the things that caused the split between Kojima and Konami. Microtransactions don't seem like something Kojima would willingly put in a game.
